The Snake of Pain

I remember back in the day I used to play Snakes and Ladders with my classmates in Kindergarten. Something about the game was always creeped me out, from the imagery of the various snakes to the children crawling around the school in the dark. It got pretty scary and my friends and I would get all giggly and have a good old laugh around the table while they would land on one of the snakes.

Then I had a bit of an encounter with a snake that I will never forget. As I stood on the edge of a playground with a friend, I saw a snake walk right up to me. I tried to move away but the snake got hold of me and dragged me in. I was scared shitless and had the urge to curl up into a ball and try and run away but I kept on looking up and up in fear. I kept watching the snakes and kept staring at it. All of a sudden I felt the snake growl and come at me. I knew that I had to run away and so I did, only to watch that snake chase me. I tried to jump over the fence as I ran and my legs slipped from underneath me. I fell and rolled through the grass, then landed on my head. I was out cold when my friends came and picked me up. I wasn't dead though, and luckily they were able to get me onto a stretcher and take me off the premises.

When I got to hospital they put me on a bed and gave me antibiotics and a painkiller. It made me really dizzy and I had to have my head checked over. I got a few shots and an injection in my leg and the next day my leg was swollen. But I was OK and I did have the best night's sleep that I have had in a while.

However, that night, I dreamed about the snake who chased me down. I was crawling around in fear and I could hear the snake growling again and I could feel his breath on my face. I had to run to my friends house that was a few houses down from my own. I got there to see the snakes, but they had gotten my friend and I. I ran up and told them to keep my friend safe and then started running to my own house.

I was outside my house by the time I got there. It looked like the snake had lost track of me. I was on the phone with my dad, saying how I was getting home when I woke up to find both my legs hanging outside my door.

I called my dad to let him know that I had gone missing and how the police hadn't found me. I was crying and he told me that I was lucky because he thought the snake would eat me alive. It took some explaining, but he agreed that the snake would have had a long day trying to find me.

Suddenly, the pain in my leg jolted me awake and I saw the same snake from the playground crawling on my leg, sinking its fangs into it, and eating my leg. It kept me in its mouth, eating my leg. At first I wanted to kill it but knew that would kill me. At this point, I was very scared and just cried and screamed. Thankfully, one of the hospital staff came in to save me and removed the snake from the premises.

I spent the next month on crutches and on a drip. I would be on my crutches and in constant pain. I would be in this room for hours in excruciating pain all day long, and even when I was at home, they would put me in this room all day long for pain medication so I would stop screaming. I would be in pain for hours just to get up to use the toilet because my legs ached so much.

To this day, snakes still scare me and I warn everyone who sees a snake to stay away from them, or else they too will experience horrible leg pain.
