Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
Ever since I was a little kid I loved the Tony Hawk franchise. I grew up playing THPS 3 and 4 on my dads GameCube. I have since owned and played every game in the franchise. One of my favourites was no doubt American Wasteland. I had owned it on my PC and managed to complete it within a week. I then put it in my drawer and had not played it in a while. A few days ago I really wanted to play it. So I searched through my junk drawer and found it. Luckily it was still in good condition. I then installed it and played. I played up to the mission where you learn all 3 styles of graffiti to impress the Cholo leader. I went to Beverly Hills to do some tagging there.
The Tagger jumped up onto this glass balcony held up by some pillars and asked me to get up there. I had done this before but for some reason I could not. I bailed quite a few times when the freak-out bar appeared. I did not press anything but it filled up on its own. My skater then screamed and proceeded to smack his head on the pillar repeatedly. His head was pouring blood. He then collapsed on the floor in a pool of blood. The screen went black and the loading bar appeared. I then spawned outside the skate shop. Strangely my head was a skull, a model that I had last seen in Underground 2. I began skating around to look for some missions but there were none. I then got a text message from Mindy.
The text read: "You're Insane! I think we should stay away from each other until you calm down."
The game automatically quit the text. My skater then slammed the phone down, screamed and then got on his knees and slammed his head against the floor. The skull shattered and the body of the skater went limp.
The game went black again. After a few minutes a grotesque face of my skater popped up on screen. One eye was a scar and the other was dangling out of its socket. His mouth was closed but on the other side it had no flesh so all you could see on that side was teeth, Similar in a way to two-face from batman.
Text in a blood dripping font read: "You see what you have done?" The game then shut off to my desktop. I uninstalled the game and searched on forums and asked Activision and Neversoft about these happenings. Strangely, they did not know anything about it...
