In 1991, a murder was registered in the police archive. I am an intern (at the police department, not Nickelodeon), so I have full access to the archive.
I was fooling around, and I found a murder case file in one of those shelves nobody opens anymore. I got curious, so I took it out. Our files are stored digitally, so inside was a USB. I took it out, went to the archive computer, plugged it in. The file was named "MURDER CASE:V28956" as murder cases usually are registered. Inside the file was a description of ground zero, testimonials from neighbours and all the usual stuff. There was one file that raised my eyebrows though, called "DIGITAL FILES". This file only appears if something digital has to do with the murder, for example sounds from the murder, or videos which made people mad enough to kill. I clicked it, and inside was a .jpg file and a .doc file. I clicked the .jpg first, called why.jpg. It was a fucked up picture of a face. I had never seen anything like it before, looked like it was taken with a Kodak. I shrugged it off and opened the .doc file, called "EXPLANATION.doc." Here is what was written:
The killer said that he killed the victim because of the effect of this picture. He said that he found it on an old hard-drive, and afterwards he had lucid nightmares about white faces cursing him with the words "K'yalla Iömed wÿarñ". He went mad and asked why they were cursing him. He said that the only way to make them leave was to give them life power in the process of killing, so he killed his daughter, and afterwards he had normal dreams. The police officers who have seen the picture has not reported any similar nightmares.
Pretty disturbing case if you ask me, reminded me of Smile Dog when I read it (Yes, I am an internet veteran although I am a cop). I put the USB back in the file, and put the file back to the shelf and continued my day as usual.
When I went to bed, I fell asleep immediately. However, my dream was a nightmare. It was white faces dancing around me, cursing me with the words "K'yalla lömed wÿarñ." Fuck my life.
