Windows 97
So it was August 1997. I just finished the 6th grade and I was getting to start Junior High. I was playing on my N64 playing Golden Eye 007. Around 7:30 PM, my dad came home with a floppy disk with duct tape with "Windows 97" written on it with black marker. It only came in 2 megabytes, which was weird because Windows 95 came in 1.44 megabytes. But I didn't think much about it, so I put the floppy disk into my PC. The setup was similar to the Windows 95 setup, but something was odd on the application page instead of saying "Windows 97 Setup" it said "puteS 79 swodniW". I thought it was strange but this version of Windows could be a Windows 98 development preview, Later, the setup was finished and I was gonna boot into windows on MS-DOS but on the top corner, it said: "MS-DOS V. 666, You will die in a moment...", which wasn't normal. I knew something was up and I kind of got scared.
But I booted into Windows and the desktop background wasn't the normal blue wallpaper, the wallpaper was a room but with LOTS of blood and there was graffiti that said "Windows Killer Pre-Installation" with a bloody evil face next to it and that freaked me the hell out and mind you, this was at 9 PM, and it was dark outside, so I was really scared and when the log-in sequence finished, it opened a text file containing my address and personal information, and a few seconds later it said he will come to my house and murder everyone.
And that was what scared me the hell out of me, I took out the floppy disk and destroyed it. And I also took out the hard drive and smashed it with a hammer, luckily my parents never found out about it, so I put a new hard drive that I brought 5 days prior to the incident and put a copy of Windows 95 on a floppy disk; and everything was normal but it didn't make sense so I checked the whole internet, nothing was found only the fake Windows 97 rumor images. Nothing happened no one came but about 3 months later in November 1997 I noticed a suspicious car but it was most likely the next door's family visiting cause after few days it was gone but I still get nightmares.
