YGS 100

Dear diary,

It has been 72 years since Jacksfilms has first begun to lull his audience with promises of YGS 100, video after video after video.

We managed to raid the empty shops for shelter; it will have to do for the night. We've managed to make enough make-shift beds for the pregnant women and younger children. We've rationed the distribution of laptops, daily Wi-fi and data plans for mobile devices.

So far, we've been surviving long enough on YIAYs and YGS 99.789A-BDRS, but our survival is running low. Those who stay offline for too long go into fits of madness and hysteria, the looming anxiety of missing YGS 100 when it comes out.

Lately, there has been talk of a dooming possibility, one that could destroy our society and our way of life, one that would snuff out hope like a weakened candle: There is not going to be a YGS 100. There never will be.

This doubt looms over me, over us all, every waking minute. We dare not speak of it; it is the only source of hope for our civilization and way of life. We're low on food, water, we're reproducing far more than we can sustain, but this is our only source of hope. Without it, we are doomed to the madness that will drive us all into extinction. There was just a new video released. The title was, "YGS-99.937483-BGJK". The whole community lined up to write their 'first' comment in the comment section-their only comment portion of the week-and walked away, their eyes and voices filled with a frantic, almost desperate, hope, that "YGS 100 is almost here, he must be almost done, and then, we'll be free."

We'll live off that hope, that faint light at the end of the tunnel. I don't know how much longer we can wait, but I do know this; whether or not YGS 100 ever gets uploaded, whenever it does, we're all clinging on for dear life onto that one shred of hope. Freedom.

Dear diary,

We made it.

All around the community, people have taken up residence on the community town square, in front of the Monitor where YGS 100 will finally air. The square is littered with tents, sleeping bags, cardboard boxes as a sort of makeshift shelter from the harsh winds and cold rain. Various small bonfires have been lit, with the smell of wood, old clothes and decommissioned electronic devices in the air as groups of tens of families huddle excitedly around any one fire and whisper among themselves is glee, excitement and relief.

The excited muttering among the Community has been hushed with the first flicker of the video, with not a single peep to be heard. As the trailer flashed across the screen, everyone, woman, man and child alike, had the same glazed over, ecstatic smile and twinkling eyes. They had waited all this time, and it's finally here.

After all this time, YGS 100 is finally here.

God speed, 20 November 2175. It's finally happened.
