You Need Your Sleep

Countless YouTube videos, 4Chan at its best. And a bag of chips. My parents weren't home, and I had nothing else to do. My sister was at her grandparents. I seized the opportunity. I mean, home by myself all night? Sweet! I looked at the clock. Midnight! Jeez, I hadn't been up this long since my last sleepover! I had a sudden tense of tiredness, and decided I'd retire to my upstairs room. Maybe I'd play some video games, put on the TV, and go to sleep—the usual late night routine. I closed all of the programs, shut down the computer, and started up the stairs.

A voice rang in my ear. What? Did someone say "help"? Then I remembered; I had left my TV on! It was on SyFy, and they usually showed horror movies at that time of night. I was scared for a second. I went to my room and turned on my PS3. I then heard a moan. Okay, that was not the TV! I froze in horror. This voice could not be acted; it was truly full of fear and desperation. My body tingled with fear. I essed my ear to it. It was crying now, still full of all-too-real emotions. I opened the door. The hall closet? I edged towards it, and the cries grew louder and louder, and clearer.

The voice sounded familiar. I shook my head. It was only me; it couldn't be someone I knew. My hand froze on the door handle; it was slick with a fluid. I brought it to my nose and sniffed it. It was blood.

I shivered with fear; the coward tears filled my eyes. My eyes darted away, but instantly went back. My mom. My dad. And my sister. Dead. Their heads lolled back, displaying their perfectly slit throats. Blood trickled down. Long, gaping gashes were on all of their stomachs, still perfectly straight.

Their insides were spilled out, one landed on the wooden floor with a huge thump. Little did I know that this was also my day of reckoning. I looked to my left, and there stood a silent figure, blanketed by shadows. I didn't see his face, but heard my last words very clearly. Maybe too clearly.

"You should have gone to sleep."
