Apparition in the Drive-Thru Window
With bloody hands, I meandered through the town square of my small town at midnight. A crow that was perched high atop a tree let out a bone-chilling whistle that would have made even the most intrepid warrior stop dead in his tracks. I wiped the sweat off my forehead. There was a light in the distance. It stood out like a lighthouse beacon in a forgotten wasteland, calling all nomadic spirits back to her bosom. It was the restaurant 'Bimmy's' sign, lit up, in all its glory, at the midnight hour.
I reared up my chainsaw and walked straight towards the light. Death was in the air, as indicated by the gloomy setting before my murderous midnight pupils. Like a zombie, I trudged for what seemed like hours before I arrived at the restaurant. I walked up to the speaker at the drive-thru.
"Welcome to Bimmy's, would you like to try our new Whopper?"
But I was in no mood for games. I grabbed a lead pipe from my utility bag and struck the intercom, sending out a shockwave that startled the birds from their nests.
"Let the games begin" I simply and masterfully replied.
I continued toward the window to assassinate the individual. I was already a well-known news sensation. I had killed many employees at many different fast food restaurants. But this night.
This night was different.
The window was closed when I arrived. At first, I didn't notice anything. Then, my prying eyes noticed it. In the window, the faint image of a man. I tried to look away, but as the old saying goes "Curiosity killed the cat" so I commenced looking once more, in a sort of foolishly defiant manner. The image came into focus.
A man with a weathered face looked back at me. In his left hand rested a pipe. In his right, a chainsaw. Surely he wasn't on the other side of the window! My heart began to race and panic took over. I dropped everything and sprinted at top velocity toward a sewer drain, where I got out my phone.
I am typing this message on my phone from the sewer.
It has been 3 days.
