Box Man

I'm near the end of my life, I can feel it. This story is for the people who don't believe in ghosts. This is a true experience, but I don't expect anyone to believe this. My name is Steve, I'm thirty, I have a wife and a yet to be born baby. My wife's name is Mary. My wife was pregnant for 4 months when it arrived. It was 9 pm, we were watching a movie when I heard the doorbell ring. I paused the movie and opened the bell, the delivery man had long left and there was only a medium seized cardboard box laying on the porch. We did not order anything but I carried it inside anyway. Then my phone rang with text messages. I put the box on our dining table then looked at my phone. My good friend John texted me: Hey Steve, did you recieve the package? I replied: Yes, what's in it? John: You'll see, just know I'm sorry. Then his icon disapeared, meaning he deleted me. I felt confused, John wasn't acting normal lately, but this is beyong strange. What did he mean by sorry? And why did he delete me? "Steve, what's happening?" Mary called from the couch. "Just a package from John." I replied, not telling her the strangeness from John. I ignored the package and settled down beside Mary. I continued the movie, after 10 minutes, my phone rang again. I picked it up and said "Hello?" "Hey Steve, we need you here. The system broke down again." It was my boss, apparently the system broke down again, they really need to change the system. "Alright, I'll be on my way." I said. I hung up, And said to my wife "Mary, I gotta go. The system's down again." I said, then kissed her swollen belly and left the house. I got into my car and was well on my way to the skyscraper when my phone rang again, from Mary. "Mary? What's wrong?" "Steve, the box. There's something wrong with it." "What happened?" "It's opening, by itself." Mary sounded scared. "It's proably a mechanic that makes it open by itself. Open the box, see what's inside." I encouraged, not knowing that's where things went terribly wrong. "Alright." I heard Mary's footsteps, and the rustling of cardboard as she opened it. "It's weird, there nothing inside, it's just pitch black, like it's a never ending hole." "That's weird, try dropping somethig inside it." "I dropped a pencil inside, it just, dissapeared." "Mary, seal the box with tape and throw it outside, I'm coming back right now." I don't really believe in paranormal activities, but a horror movie I recently watched is about a box that is a portal to hell. I turned around immeidatly and drove past the speed limit back. As I hastily parked the car, I didn't see the box outside. My fear was growing, swallowing me up and I fumbled the door open. The well lit up house now is only lit by a single lightbulb, Mary and the box nowhere to be seen. My stomache turned upside down and I cursed myself for leaving. Then I heard a horrifying noise coming from the basement, a rustling sound mixed with a scream of a woman. "Mary!" I called out, then ran down the stairs into the basement. The basement only had a single lightbulb, so we don't go down there often. The box was on a table, wide open. I approached it and it was like what Mary described, pitch black like it's a never ending hole. I searched around for Mary, then went back to the corner where the stairs and basment meet. Just as I turned back, I saw a small sliver of a head poking out of the box, small oily strands of hair barely covering it. Then a rustling sound turned my attention to the stairs, there was 4 shadowy figures standing on the top of the stairs. I looked back at the box and saw a man with pale skin and huge black eyes staring at me, his arms reaching for the light switch. I looked at the stairs, the figures came closer than before, I was cornered. I looked at the man, his hand almost at the light switch. I stared at him while I ran to the back wall of the basement, staring at the man. The figures came into view, still shadowy, then froze as I looked at them. At this position I can see both of them, so they can't reach me.

I know there's no way out of this alive, I'm blind typing on my phone as I stared at them. I'm sorry Mary, I loved you. I love you my unborn baby. I will find you John, for bringing this on our family. Goodbye. I took my eyes off them and the lights flickered shut. They're comi
