Cars 2003 Test Screening

I had a job at Pixar, and one of my favorite movies I was involved in making was Cars. It had great characters, great animation, and a great storyline.

One Saturday, I was watching Disney Channel until the doorbell rang. I opened the door, and what I saw was a package that simply said "CARS 2003". I assumed it was sent by Pixar as a sort of gift. I was puzzled why it said "2003" there. Last time I checked, Cars was released in 2006. I opened the package, and what was contained was a Lightning McQueen toy, and a disc. I decided to pick up the disc and put it in the DVD player. As for the toy, I put it on my desk. I went back to the couch and watched the film. What popped up was the Cars logo, only in a black-and-white tone, and underneath the logo, it said "TEST SCREENING". The movie started off with the final race of The Piston Cup season. It cut to Lightning McQueen, The King, and Chick Hicks racing. Then I realized something. The film wasn't being animated with CGI, it was live-action. they did animate the faces of the cars though, kinda like Season 12 of Thomas & Friends. The cars also looked different. The King was not a Plymouth Superbird, but rather a Dodge Dart, Chick was a Buick Regal, and McQueen was a Gen 4 NASCAR Stock Car, mainly the Ford Taurus variant. McQueen had the lead, but then Chick caught up and slammed him, causing McQueen's left rear tire to pop. The King caught up as well. The racers ended up in a three-way tie, and to determine the winner, the three racers would have to go to Daytona. Oh, I forgot to mention, they used real-life tracks as well.

The next scene cuts to McQueen and Mack. McQueen said "Mack, we HAVE to get to Daytona before Chick does." Mack then replied, "I know boss, but what if I-" McQueen then interrupted Mack. "No time to talk, let's just get going." McQueen said selfishly. "No need to be so rude," Mack said, and then he drove away with McQueen in his trailer. McQueen seemed a bit more selfish than he was in the actual film.

The next scene goes to Mack stopping at the nearby truck stop. Mack detaches from his trailer, and then goes to the wash because there were bugs in his grille. McQueen then decides to get out of the trailer to go get some gas, but before he knows it, Mack is back from his grille wash. McQueen tries to get back into the trailer before Mack could move, but the trailer door is locked. Mack then leaves the truck stop without noticing McQueen isn't inside his trailer. McQueen then speeds out of the truck stop to go find Mack, but then he takes the wrong route.

The next scene cuts to McQueen in the middle of nowhere. He then thinks Mack is on the Interstate route, and decides to go the other way, which actually led to Radiator Springs. McQueen then passes by Sheriff, who wakes up to the sound of McQueen whizzing by. Sheriff then speeds off to chase Lightning. McQueen crashes into many buildings and cars, also wrecking the road in the process. He then crashes into Flo's V8 Café, remaining unconscious.

The next day, McQueen was parked in the impound lot. Mater then came, but instead of giving him a friendly welcome, he tows him off to the courthouse. The cars that lived at Radiator Springs were really unhappy with McQueen. Then, Doc Hudson comes in. He tells McQueen to get out of the town, but then Sally comes to tell Doc he should fix the road. Doc then tells Sally to go away in a rude way. McQueen then leaves Radiator Springs. But little did he know that Doc was hiding behind the Radiator Springs sign, and there was a cliff near the sign. McQueen then speeds by the sign just in time for Doc to shove him off the cliff.

Then the screen went black. but there was still audio playing. And that audio was of Lightning McQueen screaming in pain violently. After 50 seconds, the screaming stopped. The screen then cut to a faceless McQueen saying these words in a deep, devilish voice:

"FANTASY IS AN ILLUSION. REALITY CATCHES UP WITH US ALL."

These words would have spooked children enough. I was confused why a studio as friendly as Pixar would make this. Thankfully, this was not the actual Cars movie.

The next day, I heard the doorbell ring again. I opened it, hoping it was not another "test screening' disc. Instead, it was Lightning McQueen. Not the one from that "test screening" disc, the one we all know and love. He had come to bring the disc back, saying it was sent here by accident. But then I thought to myself. if cartoons aren't real, how can McQueen be? but then I realized I was hallucinating and McQueen was actually John Lasseter. He allowed me to keep the McQueen toy, but I still had to hand back the disc, so that's what I did.

So here's a tip of advice to you. If you see a suspicious package at your front door that contains a disc, DO NOT OPEN IT.
