Fallout New Vegas: Repercussions Pack
If I could remember exactly it was a Tuesday. I had just gotten home from School and was hoping to go pick up a copy of "Fallout: New Vegas". Being as it was, I didn't really expect any add-ons to come out on release but you never know. I had parked in front of Gamestop and proceeded to open the door. I was greeted by a cheery lady which then greeted with "Welcome to Gamestop!" which was followed by a faintly covered up giggle. I simply waved and proceeded to make my way to the Xbox 360 section. It turns out there was only two copies left in stock. My lucky day, no? As I grabbed the case I observed the back for picture, previews, and other stuff. While observing I had a sense of nostalgia remembering all the great moment I had in Fallout 3. When I somewhat stumbled over to the cash register I couldn't help but remember I forgot something.
I pondered over while the cashier scanned the game. "Oh this too!" I yelped. I hastily ran and remembered that just maybe there might be some add-ons being how late I was getting this game. I snatched a 1200 Microsoft point from the rack and walked over to the cash register were my game, and a rosy cheeked women awaited me. "This'll be all, right?" asked the cashier with a puzzled face. "Yeah, of course." I half assly retorted. "Okay youre total will be $73.57". As she told me the total I pulled my wallet out, opened it, and pulled out a visa. I swiped, and was out the door in a matter of seconds. I heard what seemed to be a "Have a nice day sir!" in the background so I replied by yelling back.
When I got home I threw everything on the easy chair right next to my kitchen, sat on the couch, and turned on my Xbox. While the start up screen played, I decided to rush over to the xbox and plop in Fallout: New Vegas. At first it passed my mind that I had 1200 Microsoft points card just sitting there in a bag almost across the room. Right as I highlighted the "Play game" option, something just told me "don't", so I followed my instincts. I stretched across the narrow path and nipped the handle of the bag with my fingers. I pulled it towards me and took out the card. I rushed as I tried putting in the code which only resulted in "INVALID CODE" messages. I tried slower this time and claimed what was rightfully mine. I scrolled over to the "Game Marketplace" section and went straight to the F section. There, I saw Fallout: New Vegas. I had a feeling I shouldn't do this because, you know... Might ruin my experience. I scrolled through avatar items and trailers until I found one addon. The "Reperucussions pack" is what it was called. The description sounded legit. A few free items and a mission? I was already hooked in. Being it was only 800 Microsoft points, it seemed like a good deal. I clicked the buy now button and it downloaded without wait.
I started a new file and it automatically took me to the create a character screen. After that a little vault boy popped up in the corner of the screen. "New mission available: ...". It was pretty odd that the name of the quest was just "...". Though I was in a cheery mood, that had me a little spooked. I went into my Pip-boy and from the pack I had already gotten a few weapons. Though I could've spent some time reading the weapon descriptions I rushed onto the quests menu. I selected "..." and exited out of the screen. I saw were I was supposed to go on my compass but, the screen faded to black for a second. Not knowing what was going on and me being a huge paranoid just didn't work well.
After a while I went back to the game. The screened went from black to a sort of redish. After that it went back to the game. It cut to an empty looking place. Were was everybody? I ventured around for a while waiting to find something. I had finally found someone.A women that seemed to be dressed in a Vault jumpsuit. Not judging by appearance, she seemed angry and sad. I went to talk to them but was instantly greeted with a "You've done this! You monster!". There were no other options before the women started randomly attacking me. I had no other option but to kill her. I pulled out my combat shotgun and went into V.A.T.S. There was no tutorial, just the options.With one quick blow to the head, she was finished. I felt kind of awful. What had happened? Why is everyone after me?
I ventured further in the vacant Mojave desert and felt kind of lonely. I went to my Pip-boy and highlighted the "radio option. I went to "Mojave desert radio" but all I could hear was static. After that I went to "Radio New Vegas". After clicking, I immediately heard a brief static then screams and wails. The screaming gave me chills down my spine. Every thing that was heard sounded like people were in horrible agonizing pain.In the background I could hear gunshots and explosions. I tried clicking out, but for some odd reason it just wouldn't exit. It seems as though I was forced to listen to nothing but screaming and chaos. I was very scared at this point. My curiosity got the best of me so I ventured on. Roaming through the desert left me with so many questions. What was happening in New Vegas, let alone the rest of the Mojave? Was the lady that attacked me linked to the happenings in New Vegas? What did I do that was so wrong?
I finally got to freeside. As I opened the gate, it cut to the loading screen. The loading screen seemed weird. The dollar bills and all the posters were defaced and in the tips box all there was a "...". I went in and saw the carnage and gore that seemed to be going on. Dead bodies were flung everywhere, dismembered body parts were thrown about, and the floors an buildings were splattered with blood. I understand that a lot of people would've seen what was there would've just passed it by and wouldn't have cared but to tell you the truth, I threw up a little. I continued venturing on. There was one person huddled in a corner. I wondered if I could help them. Would they just say the same thing and attack me? I went up and talked to them. All they greeted with was a "<Mumbles>". There was an option "What's wrong?". The distraught person replied with "They came... Attacked... Chaos...everyone dead....". There was no more options. I wanted to know what was going on. I kept walking and after that the screen started flashing red. Nothing but red flashing as I walked. Then, out of the blue a cutescene appeared. Odd I thought. the only cutscene I've seen was the intro. It showed a happy town. Everyone playing, people holding hands, and everyone was happy. They were...Living.
Then, there was a scream. I saw an explosion and then I heard gunshots. What was going on? I saw bodies fly left and right. It cut to a cut scene of a man. He was holding a gun. Then there was a man... It was my character. I proceeded to laugh and stab him in the chest... Then walked off... I had a horrible feeling about all of this... I was about to turn my Xbox when I heard a gunshot. My health went down tremendously... What just happened? I turned around and saw a man. It looked like he had been cut pretty badly.As he slowly limped towards me with a gun in one hand and his wound in the other.
The screen flashed red again. The screen went to a cutscene split into sections. My character went up to the man while he was screaming. Crying almost. I went up to him and laughed sinisterly the stabbed him in the chest. The cutscene from before. Was this the same man? All he said was "This is what you get you bastard" then shot. The screen faded out. As it faded I could see the man, still clutching his gun, fall over and just... Die... The screen cut to black and all I heard was... "This is Mr.New Vegas... Signing off.." Then nothing but black filled the screen.
