Futurama Lost Episode: Fry's Death

Just recently, I have found a lost Futurama VHS tape that has words "FUTURAMA LOST EPISODE 1998" written in black sharpie, what's weird is Futurama didn't exist until 1999. I found the VHS on eBay for 20 dollars, I won't give the seller's username for reasons below.

After waiting 20 minutes for my sister to get off the TV and everyone to leave for my Cousin's birthday, I decided to watch the VHS really late at night while nobody in my house was home, thinking that it would be a normal episode. BOY was I wrong.

The VHS started off with a blue screen with a text saying: "The following episode of Futurama, called 'Fry's Death', has caused people to have extreme nightmares and/or suicide. Watch at your own risk." This message stayed there for 30 seconds, I felt a bit uneasy but I convinced myself that someone hacked the message in.

The episode started with no opening theme, but started off like any normal episode. One thing was really off...Leela, Bender, and the other Planet Express crew were nowhere to be seen. Fry was still there. The quality of the episode was pretty bad and this part of the episode looked like the early version of The Simpsons episode "Some Enchanted Evening", but the quality wasn't bad enough to render it unwatchable. Fry was just staring at the screen with big eyes, this lasted for 2 minutes. After this 2 minutes, I heard something. I heard what sounded like a crowd cheering, it got louder every ten seconds. Fry finally blinked and turned to see what the noise was, the viewer could see a shadowed crowd and a loud bang was heard, the screen went black.

At this point, I was pretty confused. I didn't get what was happening due to the fact that there was no dialogue and that there wasn't any music playing. But good god this part of the story will stay burned into my mind forever, this is where stuff gets creepy.

Fry woke up, and an unknown creature was ranting loudly around him. I jumped out of my seat and turned down the volume at this part, yes it was THAT loud. But what creeped me out the most is that the crowds noise sounded like it was ripped from a 1940's film. Also I could see a yellow figure in the crowd but I couldn't make it out at this point. Fry was tied up so he couldn't escape. The creature started burning Fry's left ear, and you could hear Fry screaming, very upsetting. I started to shake a bit but I wanted to see what happened. They started to burn Fry's right ear, Fry screamed even more. The crowd around him just laughed and chanted something in Japanese but it was too muffled to make out. The screen went black again.

I was very upset, my heart was pounding very hard. How could Matt Groening let this go through? Or even be created? I continued to watch.

The viewer could see the yellow figure, but it was blurred for 20 seconds. After the blur went away, I could swear my heart skipped a beat.

It was Bart Simpson.

Yes, it was indeed, Bart Simpson, one of the kids from The Simpsons. I was very shocked and confused.

Bart said something but in backwards. With no warning given, he started slashing Fry with a kitchen knife. Blood was seen, but Fry was strangely silent. He didn't scream, he didn't say anything at all. After 4 minutes of Bart stabbing and slashing Fry's stomach, Fry died. A disturbing, hyper-realistic image of Fry dead was shown for 3 seconds. The crowd noise came again, but this time it was mixed in with Bart laughing hysterically. The episode then ended with a message in Russian writing but I couldn't translate it because the words were crudely written.

I turned off the VHS tape and I burned it in my dad's bonfire. I stomped on the remains. I didn't want to be tempted to watch it again or let my sister find this and watch it, she is a big fan of Futurama and I don't want her to be disturbed for the rest of her life.

I did some research after watching this episode, (I couldn't sleep anyways) and it turns out this episode was aired on FOX in January 2000 in the UK, which I believe this episode was aired in season 2. But it aired on Nickelodeon that Futurama normally didn't play on because Futurama isn't a kids show. According to sources, 10 people committed suicide, 6 Americans watched this episode, 3 people refused to comment on this episode, It is also reported that it aired at 11:00 pm and got mistaken for a regular Futurama episode.

I never have watched Futurama again after this incident.
