Halo Grunt
Hi, my name is Laura and this is a horrible story I will never forget. Being unpopular at school, mostly due to preferring video games to socializing with people, I never really had many friends. When Halo came out, I fell in love with that game. However, I can never play Halo again.
About two years ago, I developed major depression and spent every day inside, playing video games. I remembered how much fun I had with Halo so I decided I would revisit the game. I got out my Xbox and found my Halo disc.? Looking at the disc, I noticed it was extremely scratched because I played it so much. I plugged in the Xbox and put the disc in.
Crossing my fingers, I turned on my Xbox and the game started to load. I started up the campaign on Legendary and noticed during the opening cut scene, the sound started to skip, however I payed it no notice.? Playing through the game, I became really involved in the game again.
The glitches occurred, however I still managed to get half way, until I got up to 343 Guilty Spark. That's where things started getting messed up. In this level, this is where the flood normally appear, however they seemed to not be anywhere.
After getting half way through the mission, with no flood appearing I had just assumed there was a glitch. Then I saw it.. I ran around a corner and saw a grunt, completely mutilated but somehow still alive. Its eyeball was hanging out of its socket, blood dripping from its disfigured arm. I tried to move, however Master Chief wouldn't move.
The grunt started slowly moving towards me, blood trailing behind him.The grunt moved right up to my visor and looked me right in the eyes and said "Whyyyyyyyy."Confused, I mashed buttons, trying to get away, however suddenly my visor went red and black. Red exclamation marks appeared all over the screen and then everything went black.
At this point in time, I was scared. I knew that this wasn't right, so I reset the game. After reloading my game, it took me directly in to the game, without giving me any options to choose multi-player or single player. I noticed I was back at the check point and everything was back to normal, so I decided I must have just imagined it.
I kept going on with the mission, however the glitches were getting a lot worse. Every now and then I thought I could hear a high pitched scream coming through my TVs speakers. After getting back to the point where I saw the disfigured grunt before, another scream came through the speakers.
Scared, I looked around and saw 2 grunts behind me. I tried to out run them, but at every turn, I saw more and more disfigured and bloody grunts. They were crying out things like "Why did you take so long" and "How could you do this to us". After more running, I found myself backed in to a corner, all of a sudden red exclamation marks appeared on the screen again and it faded to black. I decided to wait it out and see what would happen.
When the screen came back, I looked around and grunts were all around me still, however I couldn't move. I also had no weapons, much like at the start of the game. I waited to see what would happen when one of the grunts pulled out the pistol I was using previously and shot my character.
Then I (as in myself) blacked out. I woke up in the hospital, suffering from a gun-shot wound. Apparently before I passed out I screamed and my neighbour rang the police. My parents still don't know how I got shot or what happened. I haven't touched the game since.
