My Summer at Camp Lake Cristy

Hi, my name is Dave! I'm a twelve year old boy from the U.S. and this is my story.

Last year I got into a bit of trouble. Let's just say I "took" a few things that I shouldn't have. My friends and I would go to the mall and shoplift. I didn't need anything really because my parents were rich and all, but I did it because it was the only rush I could get besides taking haryion. I wanted to be a "bad boy" because I knew the ladies liked them. I was right, I was a ladies man! I had at least one to two girlfriends every other year. But that is beside the point. One of the times I was shoplifting from a candy store, (those Pixi-Stixs are like crack), I was caught by an employee. When the store employee saw what I was doing, she called the mall cops. I tried to get out of there, but the store owner sucker punched the socks off of me and I got knocked out. When I woke up I was greeted by a man who I presumed was the mall owner. He told me, "Your life of crime will end in a pile of nothingness." Honestly, I didn't care at that point because I realized that I still had a few Pixi-Stixs in my pocket. After hours of interrogation, waterboarding, and whipping, my parents came into the room.  "How could you do this?" my mom shouted. "Where did I go wrong in teaching you!" she was in so much distress. I felt bad. Not for stealing, but for making her cry. "Told you we shouldn't have had another kid." my father remarked. After a lengthy conversation with the mall owner and hearing that I was not welcome into the mall again, we went home.

"What are we going to do with him?" "I don't know!" my mother and father whispered to each other, failing to have a conversation that I could not hear. They spoke for a few minutes and then came down and sat at the table with me. "Son, we are sending you to Lake Cristy." "But dad! I was planning to do nothing with my summer!" "Well, you shouldn't have shoplifted Pixi-Stixs then you failure!" My father and I went back and forth like this for a few hours.

"Pack your bags, you are leaving tomorrow."

I went up-stairs, shed a few tears, and got out my suitcase. I packed the essentials, my machete, bear mace, tear gas, and a few changes of clothes. I also picked up my sleeping bad and my Pixi-Sticks. I went to sleep, crying like the little baby I was, and thinking about what the camp was going to be like. "Lake Cristy, that's an odd name. I wonder why it is named that." I thought. My fears of camp being terrible started to go away when I remembered something. I'm a ladies man! This is going to be great! I might actually talk to one this time! I went to sleep with a content grin on my face.

Just kidding, I didn't go to sleep. I was too excited! Camp was going to be great! Time passed quickly as I thought of all of the fun times I was going to have at camp till I heard the sound of my alarm clock. "It's time."

My father barged into my door, "It's time to go you fat suck" he said. I was too eager to go to camp to be hurt by his penetrating words. Dad threw me into the car along with my gear and we went on our way. It was a two hour drive to the camp but it felt like days. When we arrived, I was greeted by an obese man with pit sweat. "Welcome to Lake Cristy, the camp of fun, games, concentration, and reeducation" he said in an "enthusiastic" voice. "Can I take your bags?" "Yeah they are in the back" my dad told him. I looked around the whole camp, but there was no lake. I asked the man, "Why is the camp called 'Lake Cristy' if there is no lake?" "Some people say it's named after a ghost, some say it's a code, I say I don't give a-""Ahm" my father said. The man apologized and took me and my bags to my cabin. "This is where you will sleep" he told me. "Ok, thanks!" He left and spoke to my father. The man went to the back of the car for some reason with my father then my father shot him and put him in the trunk. I don't know why he did it, but my father never liked fat people. I waved to my covered in hyper-realistic blood father and said goodbye. "Now the fun begins!"

Now, because my journal details the days at camp better than I could now, I will write down the passages for you.

Day: 1

Camp is great! Just got here! I'm rooming with a few guys. Their names are Jack, he is a black kid who loves Kool-Aid, Peter, he is odd and he doesn't talk much, John, an Asian dude who speaks in Japanese, and Darius, he only speaks in rhymes.  They all seem nice. Gonna go get some dinner! J

Day: 2

Wow. Camp could never get better. We have been playing games all day! I met a girl. Well, kinda... I found out her name. It's Denise. She seems really nice. She like turtles, lives in Indonesia, has two brothers and one sister, her parents are divorced, she likes rocky road icecream, and her worst fear are snakes. She also lives in a two story house with three golden retreievers. I will try to talk to her tomorrow.

Day: 3

I spoke to a girl that isn't biologically related to me for the first time today! You guessed it. It was Denise! We talked about family life, hobbies, and shared a Pixi-Stix! I would say I'm in love, but I'm scared of commitment. Gotta go to bed. Goodnight!

Day: 4

I found a note today on my pillow. It read, "I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling" with a smiley face at the end. I'm sure it's Denise! I can't believe it. I'm so happy!

They hooked me up to this machine. I don't really know what it was!

Day: 5

I spoke with some counselors from camp today about the name of the camp. "So, why is it called 'Lake Cristy' if there is no lake?" One guy said the name was a puzzle, another said it was a mystery, and one gal said she has heard many rumors but none of them were logical. I am nowhere closer to finding out why the camp is named this way. But honestly, I don't mind. Denise and I are having a great time.

Day: 6

I found another note! It read "We both know what's going on" with another smiley face. I am so sure it is Denise. Someone tried to drug me with food today. I could tell because I've been drugged in the past. Anyways, camp is going great.

Day: 7

Wow! It has already been a week. I only have one more week here till I have to go home. Man. I am so happy I stole that Pixi-Stix.

Some kids are going to this room and not coming back.

Day: 8

Found out Denise is actually a Dennis.

Day: 9

I found another note. It's strange. It can't be Dennis because I cut things off after I figured out he was not a she. It said "Gotta make you understand." I was officially freaked out. I didn't tell the counselors because I liked the attention but nevertheless, I still was scared. I showed Darius and he said, "Wow, you should tell someone now. That's kinda scary, who knows it might be someone middle aged and hairy." "Eh, I don't know. I don't want to have to go home early or anything" I said. I mean, it could only be something like a pedophile but nothing dangerous or anything. Anyways, I'm trying to push it out of my mind.

Day: 10

I saw something today. It was a man. He was- watching me playing games. I only got a quick view of him before he ducked around a corner but I saw that he had red hair. Could that be the person that was sending me notes? I don't know. But I try not to think about too much.

Day: 11

New note. "We're no strangers to love." What is this? "Wicky wow, he's got you now!" Darius shouted. "Shut up Darius. You don't know anything!"

Day: 12

Today, I skipped out on the activities and did some investigating. I didn't find very much, just a trench coat. I also found another note on my pillow, it said, "I will never make you cry." Well, that was comforting in a terrifying way. Today, I showed my counselor. She looked at me for with a blank stare and just said these words, "You are the chosen one. You must discover the truth."

Well a lot of help she was. I asked Darius for some advice and he said, "yo bro, I don't know, but don't act slow or you might get towed." "Darius you idiot, you're no help." I should have known that Darius wouldn't help me at all. So I started to think. The name.... What does it mean?

I mixed the letters of the camp name around and came up with nothing.

Today we dug holes in the ground.

Day: 13

Well, it was my last full day here and I got another note. It said, "Don't tell me you are to blind to see." I think he was trying to insult me or something for not finding out what the name of the camp meant. But you know what, I'm going home tomorrow. I am done trying to figure this out.

We drug these heavy bags into the holes we made yesterday. I don't know what they were, but I'm happy they are teaching physical education here at camp.

Day: 14

I said goodbye to everybody. "Bye Dennis, my first lover." "Bye Darius, you frickin' idiot." "Bye peter, I didn't really know you." "Huo doung John, ling shing dong!" "Bye Jack!" he waved back at me with a piece of chicken in his hand.

I walked up to my dad, "Hi dad!" "Did you have fun you fat suck?" "You bet I did!" We drove home and when I got there, I ran into my mother's arms. I apologized for everything I did, and told her all about camp. They seemed oddly worried about the chambers I talked about, but whatever.

Oh and if you are wondering for some reason what I came up with I mixed the letters of the camp, here they are.
