Secret Diary

The following is a story passed down to me by a friend who claims it happened to a friend of his, of course these old "friend of a friend" tales are what we have come to know as urban legends but legends are often said to have a little bit of reality in them.. so I guess it is up to you to decide how much of this is real and how much was either my friend trying to "liven" the story up or simply messing with me..

Anyway, let's cut to the chase and begin the story shall we?

Not long ago there was a boy called Tom who lived a pretty standard life with his mom, dad and an older sister called Tracy - Tom and Tracy got on pretty well and didn't really fight much despite the age difference (Tracy being about 3 or 4 years older than Tom).

One day Tom came home late from a party and tried to sneak in without being noticed as he knew his parents would probably kill him for coming back so late when he'd promised to come home by 11 at the latest.

As Tom made his way across the hall he spotted his sister's diary on the floor and was surprised, Tracy was always very protective of her diary and never allowed anyone to look at it - yet there it was laying in front of Tom.

Shrugging a little Tom picked the diary up and took a few steps towards the stairs when he suddeny found himself glancing down at the diary - he knew it was wrong and kind of stupid but he had an urge to suddenly read a few pages, like a little kid taking cookies from the jar when no one was looking.

Tom soon regretted doing so as he noticed the pages didn't have words but instead had photographs of disgusting things he couldn't quite make out at first - obscene and violent material which he hadn't expected Tracy to even look at.. let alone store in her diary.

Flicking through a few pages Tom got more disturbed as the photographs were spaced out randomly and words began to surface, scribbled in a chaotic mess:

"Time To Pay"

"Life's A Lie"

"Chaos Bleeds"

Tom felt his hands shaking slightly as he tried to make sense of the irrational words and broken sentences, which appeared to be the works of a disturbed individual rather than the sister he had known for 15 years.

Tom proceeded to jump as he heard a sound from the stairs and looked up to see Tracy glaring at him - he quickly closed the diary and held it out - his words coming out rather fast:

"..I found your diary! I.. I'm sorry.. I know I shouldn't of.."

To Tom's surprise Tracy didn't say anything as she continued to glare at him from the top of the stairs and he began to get even more nervous as he asked:

"..Tracy? You alright? uh.. are mom and dad still up?"

Tracy remained silent and disappeared as she walked away, Tom dropping the diary as he climbed the stairs and headed to his parents room instinctively - as he did so he noticed the door was already open and the lights were on..

When Tom entered the room he saw his mom and dad sitting up in bed, glaring at him - yet Tom was still spooked and began:

"Mom, dad! something really weird is going on! You -!".

However Tom soon froze in place as his mother interupted him with a line that made his blood run cold:

"You shouldn't of read the Secret Diary, Tom.."

"Tracy - take your brother to his bedroom, your mother and I have things to discuss.. we shall deal with him in due time.." Tom's dad said, his voice changing somewhat as he turned away.

Tom then felt a heavy blow to the back of his head as he was hit from behind and fell onto the ground - when he woke up he found himself locked in his room and clambered back to his feet and banged on the door: crying out for help.

It didn't take long for Tom to hear footsteps and the door opened to reveal his dad, only now impossibly pale and having horrible eyes that Tom could only see as demonic - devoid of any emotions other than hate and malice.

"Your mother and I have decided on your punishment, Tom..".

As for what happened next.. no one really knows - though I guess the next time your big sister (or brother for that matter) tells you to stay away from their diary you may think twice.. I mean this was probably just a story but you know what they say? better safe than sorry - right?
