Sonic.html (horrible creepypasta I made in 2018)

This happened a couple years ago. It was 6 weeks after the release of Sonic Mania. All of my friends owned the game, so I went to the nearest GameStop and looked for Sonic Mania. I asked the cashier if there were any copies left. "You know what, I do! Keep this between you and me, I don't want to get fired at a video game store." he said. He was in the backroom for exactly 1 minute and 36 seconds. He gently gave it to me for a dollar. Aren't video games like, 20? I paid the man the price and then he said to run out as fast as I can before I get caught. I ran out excited. I checked the cover. It was only Sonic on the cover. Not how I remembered seeing my friend's case.

When I got home, I rushed to my room and gently put the disc into my PlayStation 4, and I started the application. It started out with just a blank screen. It would then show red TV static. I waited for a minute, then restarted the game. It showed a blank screen again, then went to the title screen. I pressed the X button. It was in Japanese, so I took 10 minutes just to find the settings and languages. When I went to the save file screen, there was only 1. It had what looked like a Sonic icon with only black on it. It looked like it was used. The background was red. I pressed every button but X, and it wouldn't do anything. I would then start the game.

I was playing as Tails in Green Hill Zone. I thought the disc was scratched or something, just because of that. After I completed the whole level, Tails would stop. I couldn't control him at all. I couldn't even pause. That made me think the batteries were dead, but then he stared at me, angerly. There was text that appeared above him that exactly said, "Stop controlling me." I was a bit confused. Tails would run off the screen. The next level was obviously Green Hill Zone Act 2, but the sky was misty, Tails was only black like the Sonic icon I saw earlier, and the music was echoed with a lower pitch. It had a straight line of the grass. Nothing but a hill at the exact start of the level and a straight line of grass. I controlled Tails through the level, but it stopped at one point. He ran the opposite direction. I couldn't do anything. At the beginning of the level, there was Sonic. I saw him for a second, then he disappeared. The same font of text appeared above him. This time, it said, "This is why." I would go back to the point I was at before it automatically stops again. I was getting a bit annoyed this was happening, but also concerned. The same text appeared again. It said, "You should've listened to me." I ran to the end. Now the background was black, and the floor was, too. Tails looked the same again. Sonic was there but blue as normal, looking the same direction. He would look at Tails. A picosecond later, there was red TV static. Then, a title card appeared without an opening animation. It did have a closing animation, though. It said "lvl.rom" It would play what sounded like a slowed down version of the US Sonic CD game over theme. Tails was sweating nervously. The text above him said "YOU SHOULD'VE LISTENED." I was getting very concerned. Tails ran without me pressing any buttons or moving the joystick. After 20 seconds, it would already be the end of the level. Sonic was there, and his whole eye was black. He would have what looked like black metal coming out of his mouth. He looked behind and started to chase Tails a second later. A Motobug appeared out of nowhere and hit Tails. He somehow survived even though he had no rings. Spikes would appear behind Tails and kill him. He would scream for about 3 seconds while crying but then the volume of his voice fully decreased. Blood was leaking out of his body. Sonic would then teleport next to it in his usual colors, yet a bit different. His blue fur was darker than usual. He had a red glow on what would be his right eye, and a noose on what would be his left. The same font of text appeared above Sonic. He would say "Not all files are just scripts." The game closed, and I couldn't move the Joystick. I could only press the X button. I couldn't even turn off the Playstation. I walked out of my room, and rapidly got over it.

The next day, I turned on my PS4. My background was just "Ready?". I just then remembered about the copy I bought from GameStop. I tried ejecting it, but it just made a noise. It auto-launched. I thought I wouldn't get scared, since I knew what was about to happen. It was already on the save file menu. The music was in reverse. I chose the only save file.

God, it's been forever since I've had the copy, it was just like... the usual place Knuckles save files would start off with. Knuckles looked sweaty. I couldn't do anything. He would just run. Until, he noticed one of those big rings from usual Sonic games. Knuckles looked up, then jumped in. It loaded another level called "Possesion.rom" was this connected to what Tails was saying? It was on the exact half of a level. I assumed I had to control him this time, yet I struggled to. The same Sonic would appear behind him every minute. The way I went got darker and darker every tree I passed. After I got to the end, it was very dark. Knuckles had text above his said that said "I know the exit. Stop controlling me." I started to think the files were simply just programmed to trick us into thinking that they're alive. I've recently played Undertale while writing this, and I can see a similarity. Knuckles ran the other way. Right at the other end was Sonic. He looked exactly like he did when I played as Tails. Knuckles stopped. Sonic was staring at him with a creepy look. The text above knuckles said "Look what you've made me do." The level instantly changed to "my hell.rom" not even in the correct font. The whole level was just eyes. The background and floor was covered in realistic eyes. Knuckles then encountered a cliff. The text above him said "This has to be done." He then jumped off, but not like his usual animations. He jumped off like how a real person would. Before he could even get fully off-screen, an image of a skinned echidna appears with a glitchy affect and static noises. A scream would fade in. My nerve system waved across my body. My heart was beating fast. I didn't bother turning it off, though. It then showed an image of Tails after 20 seconds of the skinned echidna. Tails' fur was a bit darker, his muzzle and eyes were copy and pasted on to both sides of his head. He had holes in hi torso, and small spikes were on what would be his right hand. He was smiling. 5 second later, his mouth was open. His teeth had been replaced with spikes. It then showed Knuckles next to him. There were eyes all over him, even his real eyes were realistic. His fur was a bit darkish and kind of pinkish. Text appeared above them. It said "Will that fat engineer ever learn his lesson NOT to attempt to kill me?" I could only think of the copy when I thought of Sonic, so I didn't know what he was talking about. The game closed. I couldn't open it back up. I turned off my PS4 and the rest of my day was normal.

I woke up and instantly booted up my PS4 because I heard there was a new fortnite update, and I wanted to make some kids scream. It instantly opened up to a sonic mania level. I just then remembered about the copy I bought from GameStop. It looked like it was at the final boss, but it was just Eggman moving. The moving continued for only 15 seconds until it flashed to just the machine without Eggman controlling it. A Sonic looking creature then appeared on screen as what looked like a N64 model. I haven't really played the game. The back ground was black. It smiled at me after 5 seconds. Then, it bowed down while taking his "mask" off.

What looked like a gory image of a realistic Eggman with his mustache ripped off appeared. The screen showed for 40 seconds while blood leaked out of him with what sounded like "Shicerchill Mountains" from MOTHER 3 playing. Finally, it showed Sonic in the same void-like black background. Sonic stared at me with a creepy smile, almost like Eggman's "turn".

He would bang the TV screen with his fist sideways. It made a bit of a crack on my TV. I got scared at that point. He kept smashing it until my TV broke. Luckily he gave up before it did. There was text above Sonic that said my name, specifically "E V A N". The copy dejected out of the system before I could remove it myself. When I looked at it, it looked really scratched. I went back to playing GTA5 just to get my mind off of what just happened these past 3 days. That is the tale of my corrupted Sonic Mania copy.
