The Bulb Fades

Here you stand. In a room, doors all around you, here you are. White walls, black doors with golden knobs, and a single florescent bulb above your head remain in place, staring around you. Turning your head left from right, each door seems congruent. You decide to run towards the first door northward, in your sense of direction.

Slowly coming into contact with the knob and your hand, a cold feeling runs through your veins. You attempt to turn the knob, but the door does not open. You tug and pull, but the door is locked.

You feel and sense, but you express no emotion whatsoever. You turn around, and head for the southward door. You try the freezing knob, but it is locked just as the first. You look to your left, and try the eastern door. It simply does not pull.

The last door can be your only escape. What if it is to open? You take each step slowly towards the dark door, take a breath and try the door.

You open it, but hear a faint scream in the distance and something pushes the door back with unlimited force. You hear a lock turn.

Here you are—alone, with four doors.

And someone or something is on the side of that door.

The bulb fades and the room immediately darkens.

Be silent, it might be past your bedtime.

Sleep now.

Sleep.
