The Light in the Window

April

Today Millie and I bought the house. It was a big, old house with a wrap-around porch. Millie was happy with the house and I was too. Millie brought everything into the house after the movers left. We moved the couch into the living room area and set up the old TV. We sat back and relaxed as we watched some old movies. Then, we ate dinner and went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a light was on in the barn out back. The moonlight cast an eerie shadow over the lawn. I let the light be and went back to bed.

I forgot to write for two months. Millie wants me to write because President Nixon wants smart Americans for a new tomorrow. Anyway, the wedding went very well and the cake was red velvet, my favorite. We threw a big party at our house afterwards.

A few days later, the moon landing was on and Millie and I both watched it on TV. Neil Armstrong had just stepped on the moon when we heard it. A bang. Then a crash. It came from the barn. I ran out back but all I saw was a light in the barn window. I took a shovel and went inside. Next thing I knew, I was in the hospital. The doctor came in and introduced himself. He said I had been hit hard in the head with a shovel...
