The Moxy Show: "Clueless" (1997 Episode)

Do you remember The Moxy Show? I sure do. It was one of my favorite cartoons back in the day. It was Cartoon Networks first original show and was a 3-D animated show that starred Moxy, a dog, and a flea named... Flea...how original. I remember watching this show all the time back in the day. Ah, the good old times. The times when Covid, Trump, and racism weren't even a concept. Prefect Memories.

But I do remember a certain episode I'd call........ disturbing (considering I saw it as a kid, It might not be as scary now.)

This particular episode aired around 7:00 In the morning during early September of 1997, when I was just a kid. I remember it being once of the scariest things I had ever seen at that point in time. The plot was about Moxy and Flea getting hired at a new job at Cartoon Network. Their boss appears on "The Boss Alert" and tells them they are getting a new job due to their popularity of the time. They get hired to be the new boss of Cartoon Network, but the catch is they have to compete in a few challenges.

Moxy, thinking he's better then Flea, decides that if he wins, Flea has to give him fifteen dollars. However, if Flea won, then Moxy has to give Flea fifteen dollars and dance like a monkey. After that, they shook hands and the deal was made.

After that, the boss tells them about the first challenge. The challenge was simply to ice skate. Moxy immediately gets his Ice-Skates on and starts to skate. Immediately after however, he continuously falls down and slips the whole time. Meanwhile, Flea is gracefully skating across the ice like it ain't no big deal (even though the skates aren't the same size as Flea's Feet).

Flea is proven the obvious winner of the first challenge. Moxy, in response, simply crosses his arms and rolls his eyes.

The second challenge was to go Skydiving. It then transitions to Moxy, flea and the boss in a fast moving plane. Moxy immediately jumps out of the plane while the boss was discussing the safety procedures. It then shows Moxy falling from the sky at a fast rate. Moxy tries to activate his parachute but then realizes he forgot to bring it. Flea, on the other hand, did bring his parachute.

The next few seconds are just Moxy screaming before hitting the ground with a splat. Flea then lands next to him, parachute activated ad he gracefully lands on the concrete ground. The boss then walks up to the two and declares Flea the obvious winner. Moxy, in turn, just rolls his eyes again. Then the boss walks the two offscreen and tells them about the third and final challenge.

Now this is the part of the episode that I meant by "disturbing".

The scene transitions to the boss walking Moxy and Flea through a dark corridor, with Moxy and Flea looking visibly afraid. After a bit of walking, they reach the end of the corridor. At the end of said corridor lies a pair of double doors. The boss opens the doors, and the three are soon led to a large, circular room, with the majority of the room being a large circular, seemingly bottomless pit.

At the bottom of the put was what appeared to be a large, crimson fire, with ghostly hands peeking out. A faint screaming can be heard mixed with the sound of crackling fire mixed in with it. Moxy and Flea are obviously very confused as to what exactly is this. The boss then explains that the final challenge was, simply put, to sacrifice your best friend.

Suddenly, everything goes silrent for a short period of time. Moxy and Fles look at each other, not one of them saying a word. They then broke out into an argument as to who else was gonna get sacrificed. The boss gets bored of this and chooses who will get sacrificed himself: Flea. The boss picks the little fella up and throws him into the fire. Moxy tries to save Flea, but his attempts are proven futile.

Flea falls into the pit of fire and is quickly engulfed by the flames. All the ghostly hands grab onto Flea's body and give him a hard squeeze before dragging him further into the eternal fire. The fire burns brighter and bigger as the ever desperate Flea is dragged into hell. Soon after, the fire returns to its normal state.

Moxy stares into the endless pit of fire, realizing that his best friend for all this time is gone. The boss then chuckles and explains what's really going on here. He explains to Moxy that this whole thing was a sham, and that he is apart of some sort of secret cult. He then rambles on about this cult and how they are forced to worship some sort of dark god and how they must sacrifice innocent souls in order to make this god happy. It was very generic.

After that, all Moxy did in response was just stare at the camera in shock for a few seconds before cutting to static for the remainder of the time slot.

That's virtually all I remember about this episode, considering this aired over 20 years ago. I've scoured the internet for years trying to find this episode, but no one seems to even know this episode exists, with the only known exception... being me.

I really hope I can find this episode soon so I can prove to everyone that what I saw was real. One of these days, the episode will be mine...
