The Version of Bully Rockstar Doesn't Want You to Know About

In 2006, Rockstar announced that their latest game, "Bully", would be releasing sometime in October. I have always been fascinated with early builds of video games - however, one thing odd I noticed about Bully is that some it's development has barley been documented before.

During a meetup at E3 in 2005, I met up with a Rockstar intern who was apart of their marketing team. We became friends pretty fast and I bought him a beer. We had a couple of laughs and talked about personal struggles in our lives. He then asked me about a game he was working on and promised to send me a leaked .zip file. Being the usual energetic video game enthusiast, I said yes. As I got home that night, I received an email from him that contained the file.

Upon opening the file, a selection blue screen with "BULLY" crudely handwritten. I didn't take much noticed of it, since I assumed it was just a prototype of the game. Upon pressing the play button, a cutscene played. It was pretty much like the intro of the final build; you know, Jimmy Hopkins gets dropped off at Bullworth Academy, blah blah blah. Things took an interesting turn during the combat tutorial. When Jimmy hit the bullies, they became more thin and pale, as if he were literally beating the life out of them. When Jimmy beat up all of the bullies, they look malnourished and collapsed to the ground.

When entering the school, everything looked normal. When I opened one of the lockers, a skeleton was in one of them, and it looked hyper-realistic, with blood and dirt on it. The school's walls started to close in on each other with nobody to be seen. As they closed in on Jimmy, a loud bone crack was heard and he burst into body parts.

The game then showed an image of Jimmy, but with a mask of some sort and blood dripping out of his neck.
