Donkey Kong Country Episode Forty One

When I was a kid Donkey Kong Country was my most favorite thing EVER! I had all of the games, soundtracks, and merch.. So when I heard that there was going to be a cartoon of it, I could hardly wait! I saw every episode! Well at least I thought I did...

Recently I went to a video store and I saw somebody had traded in a crate of VHS's, so I decided to look into it. I happened to notice they had ALL of the Donkey Kong Country episodes, yup, all 40 of em'! So I pulled all of them out of the crate and noticed something really odd. It was a standard VHS that had tape on it, upon further inspection I noticed something rather odd. It was labeled "Donkey Kong Country Episode #41". "#41!? When was that made?!" I thought to myself. So I casually hid it into the pile hoping the cashier wouldn't notice this rare gem and paid for all of the tapes. I rushed out of the store barely able to contain my excitement.

I walked into my house and called a friend I knew who also was a huge Donkey Kong Country fan and asked them if they wanted to come over. "Hello-" my friends voice was quickly interrupted by a loud scream; "Banana Slamma!" is what I heard, and being the hardcore DKC fan I am, I noticed that was Donkey Kong's catchphrase from the show! So I figured that my friend was just messing around with me, and I would just watch them myself. So I plugged in my VCR which took forever...

My original plan was to watch all of the episodes in a marathon, but something drew me to the "Donkey Kong Country Episode #41" tape. So I decided to watch that first. When I put the tape in I was greeted by nothing but a black screen. After forty-one whole minutes the it started playing as the classic Donkey Kong Country theme song started blasting all around the room; however, all was not normal as I took note that the quality of the animation was lower than usual...

Finally, the episode started with a zoom up of Cranky's Hut; however I noticed that the title of this episode was rather odd reading "ES CAP E  WH IL E YO UCA N". I assumed that perhaps this was just a joke from whomever wrote the epsiode and that this was an unaired episode that was sent in to the publisher for approval. Ignoring that, the episode started with Diddy yelling at Donkey Kong not to take off his hat because it was "part of him". However, Donkey Kong was twisting Diddy's signature red cap with a determined look. I found this whole scenario odd, as I'm pretty sure Diddy Kong has been seen without his cap on.

Maybe this episode was made as a joke among the animators, as the voices sounded quite a bit off from what I remember... After several minutes of Diddy yelling about how it was impossible to take off his hat, Donkey Kong lifted off it off along with a part of Diddy's head. It then focused on Diddy, bleeding to death, without his head, screaming hyper-realistically! Donkey Kong then said "C'mon little buddy, I think you look pretty handsome without your hat!". Cranky walked in to this horrific scene, standing in the doorway, speechless. Donkey Kong then took his cane and stabbed him 13 times repeatedly! Cranky started to bleed and die slowly. He was screaming, but it sound like Cranky was screaming in my room! Donkey Kong then blew up his house and said "Now nobody can know!" then jumped off of a cliff then it cut out to hyper-realistic footage of some guy hanging himself, while laughing, then his head started to spin!

Normally, anybody would stop watching around now, but I was determined to see how the lost episode of my favorite cartoon series would end. It got worse, Donkey Kong then ran away and hid in Funky Kong's house. I remember it clearly, Donkey Kong was hiding behind the TV as Funky was flipping through channels. Funky just kept going, and going; that is until he got to channel 666 and said while cowering into his chair "Gee, horror movies today sure are realistic!" to which Donkey Kong ripped through his TV like it was paper with a knife and an evil grin. He stopped walking just as he approached Funky's chair to which Funky responded by saying "Huh, that's strange... I don't remember putting on 3-D glass-" he was cut short as Donkey Kong carved the initials "DK" into his body. It was terrifying, as hyper realisitic blood splattered everywhere and Funky was screaming at the top of his lungs; however, this was not you're average cartoony scream, it was the sound of true agony and pain, and I could've sworn I heard the screams coming from somewhere in my apartment. After Donkey Kong killed him, he looked towards the screen and proclaimed "YOU'RE NEXT". The screen then went to an all black screen with dull, white text that read "[LOCAL ADVERTISEMENT BREAK]". I thought about escaping with my life, however I couldn't get out of my chair no mattered how hard I tried. After a few minutes the text changed and said "[LOOKS LIKE IT'S THE END FOR YOU]".

After that it went black, I wanted to turn it off... but something... something... made me not. It then made a really high-picthed frequency and cut to Donkey Kong, with his eyes now bleeding, holding up a picture of my grave while laughing menacingly! He then jumped out of the TV and chased me around my house! I got out a knife gouged out BOTH of his eyes, then he stopped dead in his tracks, and eyeless DK said to me "Nice try!" and blew up! My house was on fire and I was bleeding! I walked to my VCR to go and save the tape, but it was gone! But a note was in there that read "TRY AGAIN" written on in hyper realistic blood. Then a hyper-realistic looking Donkey Kong stabbed me in my back and I died!
