Pedantic Redditor Copypasta

Redditor refrain notice: I have run into this problem frequently enough with Redditors that I deemed it necessary to create this notice and place it at the bottom of all my posts. Redditors, by and large, seem to both get off and be unjustly rewarded via upvotes for a few things.

Being pedantic (pointing out minor errors, correcting people who make small mistakes, and bragging about their knowledge and expertise.) Not directly answering the question the poster asked but instead providing the questioner with other information ranging from tangential to completely unrelated. Providing broad unactionable advice that holds some general truth (doesn't help anyone and still gets upvoted) Providing "safe" and/or "responsible" answers that don't answer the question directly but instead delegate to other sources (i.e. "you should contact a professional", "pay X to do it.", etc.). Yea, I know I'm taking a risk asking strangers questions on the internet. Provide useful responses or move on. Being unnecessarily contrarian purely for the sake of being contrarian so they can feel superior and valiant (of which they are neither) Being overly concise without any elaboration, ultimately resulting in the reader having more questions than answers Commenting with corny Reddit humor that both isn't funny and doesn't provide any actual value to the conversation PLEASE REFRAIN FROM DOING THESE THINGS IF YOU CAN HELP IT. THANK YOU.

P.S.

I didn't make this notice to be a meany butt; I made it to help improve the overall decorum and utility of Reddit for both myself and others.
