Unknown Anomaly

Have you guys ever have that moment when you suddenly hate something you love so much just because of a tramatic incident? Well I have, and lets just say after you read this tale, you will know why I hate the Super Smash Bros. video game with a passion.

The Incident

It started out just a couple of days ago, I was just going through a couple Lets Play videos on Youtube when I found an interesting video. The video was titled "Super Smash Bros. 64 Rom Hack". When I first saw the title, I was curious, because I grew up on the Super Smash Bros. series.

I clicked on the video link and my labtop took me to the video. The video showed some footage from the hack, including characters from evvery single game in the Smash Bros. series, it even had characters rumored to be in the Wii U game, including my favorite Sonic character, Shadow. (I also grew up on the Sonic series in case you were wondering)

After watching the video, I had to get my hands on the hack, so I clicked on the link to the hack and I was ready to start beating up on some allstars. On the character screen I choosed Shadow, however I noticed that something was off about the character portraits, the characters seemed.....depressed. I wrote it off as a problem with the hack and pressed on.

I started the classic mode and started out facing off with Link as usual, but during the fight, he seemed out of it,he barely layed out an attack on Shadow. Before I had Shadow Chaos Spear him off the Hyrule Castle, he muttered something to Shadow which I could not hear at all. The match was over and I proceeded through the game as normal.

As I progressed through the game, everything was the same as the orginal, except for the fact during the giant DK fight I was partnered with Sonic and Falco, but it was quite normal for the hack to have those pairings. However, I noticed during the fight with Team Kirby that the usually cheery music was being played in reversed and the Kirbys had a sad look in their eyes as if they wanted to be killed. I didn't know what was going on with the characters being depressed but I was starting to think they were tramatized by an enemy in one of the last few levels.

When I got to the fight with Metal Mario everything was normal again, I was still pondering what could have made the hacked games characters depressed but I still managed to make it to Master Hand. There were a lot of things that were off during the fight, first of all, when Master Hand first appeared, he didn't do his signature evil laugh. Second of all, the music was slowed down and sounded more demonic, and finally, I noticed that when I had Shadow deal the final blow to Master Hand he didn't do his death wail, instead he softly muttered, "Thank you".

I was confused as to why Master Hand would say that, has he too been tramatized by some unknown force? As I pondered these questions I fast fowarded through the credits, the annoucer said congratulations as usual and I thought the game was over. I reached over to the close window button on the page so I could coment on why the characters were depressed, but then the new challenger screen appeared. The figure looked awfully familiar to me but I shrugged it off and pressed continue and the battle began.

The figure had a black robe on and had small letters on his back that said "NB" which shocked me because those two letters are my initials. I was a little worried about who the figure really is, but I pressed on and had Shadow attack the mysterious figure. The figure attacked by using weapons that came out of his body which he used to unleash bullet hell on Shadow. Shadows body was ridden with bullets and I was extremely worried, I knew from that moment that the figure is responsible for tramatizing the entire roster.

I had Shadow Chaos Spear him one last time and the spear ripped off his hood to reveal his face. I was horrified when I saw who the man really was, a spitting image of...me! I was shocked that the hack had a visial representation of me in the game, I nervously watched the screen as NB, my virtual double, got closer to Shadow and started choking him. I was begging the virtual me to stop choking Shadow, but it was too late, NB choked Shadow to death.

I was crying as NB finally spoke and said "what a shame, I thought that even the Ultimate Lifeform would prove to be a worthy adeversary". I was horrified by the fact that a virtual representation of me would try to kill the entire roster, I was losing my mind as I yell at the monitor "Why are you doing this?" NB, as if he is aware of my presence responed "Why am I doing this? simple Nick, to prove my dominence over the entire Smash Bros. roster, just like you wanted me too." My fear soon turned to anger, knowing that my desire to become the best Smash Bros. player in the world has created this horrible monster.

I finally got up, grabbed my chair and said "die you horrible human being!". I smashed the labtop and threw it away, knowing I would need to replace it someday. I then passed out due to the stress of what I witnessed during the bonus match. My pairents found me out cold and immediately took me to the hospital.

It has been two weeks since the incident, I was released from the hospital and I rreplaced my labtop with a new one. As I looked around my video game collection, I noticed my copy of Super Smash Bros. Melee. In anger, I decided to break the dsc in half, I wanted nothing to do with the Super Smash Bros. series anymore. I hope by reading you learn to not be consumed by the need to become the best, otherwise it will turn you into a monster with absolute no remorse.
