World Of Simpson
I'm sure EVERYONE & their mom have at least seen a single episode or clip of The Simpsons, It's one of the most popular. Longest running & also one of the most iconic Cartoon Families in all of television, now of course with any popular IP, comes merchandise, Toys, Food & Beverages, Theme park rides & the whole shabang, but one thing every popular IP always Has at some point are video games, And the simpsons has plenty video games out there.
From Classics like The Simpsons arcade game, Bart's Nightmare, Simpsons Hit & Run, To the not so classic games like The Simpsons wrestling.
But one Simpsons game, I'm betting barely anyone Has heard of. Now, back a couple months ago I was browsing the Internet, I love modding my consoles so I was looking for some game roms and software for them. The main one I was looking for was ones for the Xbox 360, since I had recently bought a 360 from some GameStop for nostalgia purposes.
Sadly they didn't have any of my childhood games like Minecraft or Sonic generations, sorry if I'm dragging on about that just a bit of nostalgic memories. Now because of that I was browsing rom sites to find Roms of the games. Since I was a bit broke after buying that 360 so I couldn't get a gift card for the xbox.
After a couple hours of browsing I came across something...strange. "World Of Simpson (Unreleased 360 MMO Game)" this caught my attention. An unreleased Simpsons game? AND it's a MMO of all things?
I was OBSESSED with the Simpsons when I was a little kid so this made me feel nostalgic, so I decided to see what was up with it and install the game. after waiting for it to download it had finished downloading as I put it into my USB drive. I then stuck it inside of my 360 as I turned it on.
When I went to the "Games" Option and clicked on it. There it was, World Of Simpson in the middle of the screen.
Now with an unreleased game I honestly expected no icon for the game, but there was one. However it was VERY simplistic, all it had was just the iconic simpsons cloud background with Homer & Bart in the middle of it, wearing headsets as it shows stuff such as what I assume were meant to represent customization options alongside speaker icons above both of their heads, which I also assume represented voice chat, there was also the logo of the game itself. It was the regular simpsons font with "World Of Simpson." Spelt out above Bart & Homer Alongside the fact that the pictures of Bart & Homer were just already existing clipart of both with things drawn onto them.
After a bit of looking at the icon I decided to finally start the game, as it loaded up it showed logos of the companies who made the game. One of them was EA, which showed that it had been in development when EA had the Simpsons game license (which, they still do. Mostly because Simpsons tapped out is being a great success for them) after all of that, it booted me into the loading screen.
Now the loading screen reminded me quite a bit of the icon. It had that same cloud background alongside the Logo. It also had a loading screen at the bottom of the screen that had a looping animation of itchy & scratchy chasing each other with weapons. The bar itself was yellow and as it filled up more & more it had it alongside the itchy & scratchy animation move more & more towards the side of the screen.
Finally after it finished loading, it started up a video. It appeared to be an animatic and as soon as it started, Krusty The Clown jumped up onto the screen.
"Hey-Hey kids! I see this is your first time with World of Simpson ain't it?! Well I know you're gonna have an Amazing time with it!" Krusty yapped. Before fake coughing and muttering "And also make the devs some sweet cash in the process..." and then fake coughing again.
"Annnnyyyways..before you can be set free into Springfield. I gotta talk to ya about some rules & teach ya what to do, but of course I'M not gonna do it! So let's leave it up toooo..ITCHY & SCRATCHY!!!!!" As he said that the sound of applause and cheering played, before it faded to the intro of the Itchy & Scratchy show.
It showed a title card that said "RuleBusters!", beside the logo it showed Itchy & Scratchy in a ghostbusters themed outfit as it played a jingle parodying the ghostbusters theme song. It then cut to the mouse & cat duo in front of a haunted house, Scratchy was shaking as Itchy had a confident expression and his arms on his hips.
Itchy noticed Scratchy shaking and bonked him on the head with an angry expression, Scratchy looked at him as the door out of nowhere swung open. Scratchy yelped in fear as Itchy did an evil chuckle as He then pushed Scratchy into the house.
He then slammed the door shut, as Scratchy frantically looked around in Pitch black. This is where some rather..weird things started to happen. As Scratchy looked around the lights flickered on, as he saw ghosts that had various symbols on them.
One of them had the symbol of a mouth yelling. Another one had a laughing face on it alongside a couple others, since the title of the short was "RuleBusters!". It was very likely that these ghosts were meant to represent bad things such as bullying & mocking as Scratchy pulled out a cartoony looking futuristic vacuum, he tried pressing it on as it jammed.
The ghosts laughed at him as they dived at him, which caused Scratchy to scream. However mid scream the animation froze as the scream looped. Which I assume happened because of a glitch or bug cause after all, this is an unreleased game. So it very likely has bugs. After a while it stopped as it quickly put me into the game itself as a bubble appeared that had a picture of Abe Simpson that said ""AHHH!!!". It appears an error occurred! We apologize for the inconvenience.".
As I exited out of the bubble. I was able to fully see what the game looked like. The graphics looked very similar to The Simpsons Game as well as having a special UI such as a map in the corner and a tab at the top showing a mission. However all it said was "Current Mission: PLACEHOLDER" alongside. My avatar was Homer Simpson. At the top right corner it showed what looked like a shopping cart that had the "Select" button next to it.
Since I was curious I tapped select. It then had a Menu pop up that had "SHOP" at the top of the menu as I noticed some form of currency next to it. Both of the currencies had 999999999 of each which is obviously just for testing. The items I had noticed In the shop were things such as:
"Flander's Hot Chocolate". The description of it listed how it could "Give Access to hot chocolate passes". I was too confused on what a Hot Chocolate pass would even be or do so I skipped on that one.
"Plow King" Basically just was a regular Vehicle. This one I decided to Buy.
"Donut" It would give you more Rewards for missions (I assume just 2x XP or Coins).
And there was one more thing.
"PLACEHOLDER" strangely this one. Had a description. "Join". I was confused on what Join meant. So I decided to cave in and buy it. As I did, I heard a couple notes of the Simpsons jingle. Which I assume was a form of alert sound.
I then noticed something in the top left corner. "Leader of Thou Has Joined Near You. Why not introduce yourself!", this. Confused me. Was this a test CPU? Someone else that got the rom? I don't know. But I doubt the servers would even be online to allow that.
As I exited out of the shop I saw Them in front of me. They were a Bart Simpson avatar with a white robe on them and a hood covering their head, however from what I could see of they're face I saw what looked like one of those Phantom of the opera masks.
This had me confused. Since that wouldn't really fit in a Simpsons game, but who knows. Could've been a planned Halloween item of sorts.
Right when I thought this was just a left over test bot. A chat box appeared "It appears you have gotten our invitation. Are thou ready to be one of us?" Invitation? What the hell is going on? . I started to feel weirded out. It did feel a bit unnerving but It was just. Weird. So upon seeing that I dug In a box of my old Xbox accessories and attached my mini keyboard to my controller as I typed in "...Invitation? What are you even talking about?".
A bubble appeared above Leader Of Thou as another text bubble appeared "The invitation. Thou bought our invitation." Then it clicked. That Placeholder item in the show that said join. WAS the invitation. I then replied with "Ohhhhhh the placeholder item? Yeah I have it, but what am I even 'joining' anyway?"
They then replied with "A place of acceptance. Where you will be treated wonderfully. And ascend."
After seeing this I chuckled. This just started to feel like a troll that had messed with the servers to be able to join games as I then typed "lol I guess I'll join then". They then replied with "Perfect. Thou shall enjoy this." Then a menu popped up saying "Leader Of Thou has invited you to "Perfection"". I decided to join out of curiosity.
It took a while to load but when it finally did. I was in the stonecutters building. Except it looked rather dark, being only lit up by several torches on the wall. As I walked forward I saw multiple people that had the exact same robe and masks as "Leader Of Thou". Except they were all different heights and sizes which I assume were from some form of a 'class' system for the game.
Leader of Thou then ran towards me from the shadows as a chat bubble appeared "My Brothers. I have a new one." As soon as he said that multiple other chat bubbles appeared above the other people that said the exact same thing "We Welcome Thou.". Leader Of Thou then made a come here motion to me. Must've been an emote, but I decided to move forward as he started to walk away. I assumed I was supposed to follow him as I did that.
After a while he stopped in front of something. As soon as I stopped a chat bubble appeared "Are Thou ready to see if they are worthy..to be one of our brethren?". I typed out "Uhhh yeah sure let's get this over with" as then. A large chunk of the wall started to move upwards as it revealed a room with several pillars. On top of said pillars were flames.
I started to get a bit more unnerved. If this were meant to troll people I mean I DO gotta give 'em props. It is a good prank but I don't understand why they would use a game like THIS. Since I doubt anybody would most likely be playing this game but, that was when I started to think they could've Been a cult of some sort. I mean it wouldn't come as a surprise judging by things such as the robes & masks. As Well as them using the stonecutters building which in the show, Stonecutters WAS kind of a cult.
Leader Of Thou then walked into the room as I followed suite. As we got to the end of the room there was a throne. As well as one in front of it as Leader got onto the one near the back wall. So I decided to sit in the other chair since it was most likely for me.
As soon as I sat down A chat bubble appeared "May it be ok with thou If I explain me and my brethren's..story?" I Replied with "Yea.".
After a couple seconds Leader Of Thou replied with "Now thou may be asking themselves. Why are we here? This place is utterly nothing but empty. Such as how earth will eventually be rid of human life....however..this wonderful place was planned to be rather. Lively at one point." I assumed he ran out of space as he then sent another message.
"You See..Me & My Brethren were..non accepted in this life. We were called things such as..Freaks..abominations..cultists..we didn't want that..we bring nothing but mere peace..and we wanted to show that in a wonderful way."
"This Place of yellow. Is loved by many, so we wanted to make us be loved like everyone else..by becoming one like the yellow...we had heard of this masterpiece being made..so we decided to use it for our love..we had signed up and we were accepted..many people were here.."
"Little Children..adolescents..Adults..many kinds were there..however when we tried to fit in with them...they shunned us once again..we do not bring harm..we bring nothing but wonderful peace.."
Then he said something that got me..a bit..on the edge..
"But clearly we had to be aggressive..we had tried many methods to get rid of the bad people..however when we reported them to the big people" (who I assume were EA) "..They gave punishment to us.."
"Later our little world was gone..it would be coming back of course..but we didn't want to be gone from it..we had asked very nicely to the big people to add it back."
"But we got more & more ignored. We had tried visiting them in the big building..however all they did was run and call the rulers.."
I replied with "Wait wait wait. Who are the rulers?"
"The Blue people.."
"Blue People? Ohh the cops. Alright uh continue"
"Thank thou..we tried being nice to the rulers..but they did not be nice back..eventually the big people got rid of our beautiful land....but we had to bring it back.."
"One of my brethren had gotten access to our beautiful land again..just for us..nobody else..but we wanted others to see our beautiful land..so we showed it to the interwebs in hope people will have loved us..however very few ever joined..and those who did sadly never met us during their stay.."
"However for Thou..we were just in time for thou to be here..we finally had somebody wonderful..for our amazing land..at last..thank thou...that is all.."
After hearing that thing of a story. I just wanted to exit the game. This was getting really weird. I was HEAVILY starting to think this was a cult. However before tapping the home button. Leader Of Thou sent a message "...Thou has been really accepting of us..we think thou is Very worthy..is thou willing to join."
Normally I would've just exited out. But no no no no NO. I wanted to do something Verrry different then leaving... "Hell No! You guys are literally in a Damn CULT. I don't wanna be part of this in ANY way. I'm leaving.".
There was around 6 seconds of silence. Before Leader Of Thou replied "Well then..I am very sorry to hear that..." out of nowhere my avatar fell over from his chair and landed on the ground. As several of the other members grabbed my limbs and pinned me down. As leader of Thou pulled out a Twisted dagger.
As he rose it up. He said "But there is no leaving now..you are too perfect to lay to waste..". He instantly swung it down. However, right before it hit my avatar. The screen froze as it played a sound of Homer screaming. However it kept on jamming on the first second of it. As the screen glitched the screen went to black.
It showed my game menu. World Of Simpson was still there as I stared up at it. I was just..frozen still..almost as if I was frozen to the ground.
My mind was racing. I wasn't petrified or freaking out. I was just a bit uneasy and mostly confused as hell. What did I just play? Who WERE those people? After a couple more minutes of thinking I finally stood up. As I turned off my Xbox and pulled out the USB stick.
I decided to put the file back onto my computer. But I wouldn't wanna delete it. I wanted to keep it there, however I didn't know why I wanted to. Who would I even talk to about it? What would they do about it? If those cultists were able to go to EA's building. Could they come to my place? I decided not to panic.
I just have to hope for the best. Hopefully they don't come for me. I doubt they will but there's a possibility. I tried getting screenshots of parts of the game, however I could only dig up the loading screen & the icon HOWEVER Those later ended up corrupted. Anyways that's the end of my 'blogpost' of sorts, if anybody has any info about World Of Simpson. Leave it below. Goodbye.
