Little eight year-old Janet was sitting on a white chair with her eyes fixated on the T.V. She was staring at a floppy eared puppy that was running around on the screen. She imagined petting it and walking it. She imagined it laying on the edge of her bed every night. She imagined having it as her best friend. A little furry companion to always be there for her. She was so thrilled to have one that she had to ask for one right now. She got up and ran into the living room where her mother was sitting down reading a book.
She began to cry. She could not imagine life without a puppy. She planned out the name, the breed, the color of the leash and collar - everything. There was no way all that planning would go to waste.
It was not fair. After months of dreaming about a little puppy, her wish was stolen from her, leaving her poor little heart shattered. She wiped tears from her eyes. No, she would not let this happen. She would get a dog no matter what! She was not going to let her stupid dad stand in the way of her and her puppy.

Meanwhile, her mother felt bad. She would love for her child to have a family dog. She knew it would make little sweet Janet so joyful. Maybe she can sway her husband to get one... She would try to talk to him about it tomorrow when things would hopefully settle down.
The next day, her mother got up and walked to her
