The Ghoul's Lament

Why am I hung in chains,
For the crows who peck my eyes,
And delve with black beaks into my brains?
Lies! The crimes they blame on me, all lies.
I never harmed a living man, I killed no one.
I merely took what I found in the ground,
I always returned the bones when I was done.
No harm did I, but fiend and Hell Hound
You called me, monster and ghoul.
The body, is nothing after the soul has left,
If not I then the worms. Why need you be so cruel?
