Ring Ring Ring

Julie quickly snatched up the phone.

"Hello?" she said.

It was her parents. Feelings of dread mixed with hope filled up inside of her. She knew what this phone call was about. It was about her dying brother, Dave, in the hospital. This was the phone call that was going to answer if he was okay or if he had passed away.

"Julie," her father began, "We've got great news! Dave is okay!"

Julie nearly dropped the phone in happiness.

"YES!" she shouted, "THAT IS GREAT NEWS!"

She then burst into tears of joy.

"He will be coming home tomorrow, the dear." her mother then started.

"God be praised," Julie then said.

"Would you like to come up here to see him? He looks just like nothing even happened," her father then said.

"Oh my god! YES! I can't wait! Thanks dad for the good news! I love you!"

Julie never even bothered to wait for her dad to say goodbye. She just hung up and started cheering.

"THANK YOU GOD!" Julie shouted.

Just then, a repair man knocked on her door. Julie answered.

"Hello?" she said.

"Hi," the worker said lazily, "I'm here to fix your phone."

"Why? My phone is perfectly fine!" Julie said.

"No it's not. There's some type of virus going around causing phones to receive information very poorly. Basically, what you would hear on the receiver will be muffled up phrases that aren't what they really are." the worker explained.

"Oh my God," said Julie. She passed out right there.

She was never looked at the same way again by her family.
