Bloody Fun
I used to work for Hasbro. I wasn't an intern but I wasn't a board member either. To be exact I was a manager at a stateside factory. I know in this day and age it is an anomaly in itself for any major company to produce products in the US, or any other country with workers rights policies but the factory I managed had been in operation and owned by the same family since the 1950s. I more or less handled all administrative tasks in the factory. The owners got a hefty cut of the profits and we stayed out each other's way. Once a year the owners or representatives come to the premises once a year for a safety check up. It wasn't the most fair arrangement but as long as my paycheck from corporate came through on time I did not give a damn how the owners handheld things. In any case I'm writing this not because I want to or because I think it would be fun but because I have to, because if I don’t I may go mad. The factory's down spiral started around October 13th 2012. My Little Pony had been out for just over three years, and the corporation decided the demand for merchandise warranted its own devoted factory state side. I don't know if they had any particular reason for choosing the factory I managed but they did.
The letter from corporate came as I have said October 13th 2012. It said “For the foreseeable future corporate would only be supplying my factory with shipping parts for My Little Pony Merchandise, inform my employees of the change, utilize all non My Little Pony related components, maintain health codes,” blah blah blah. Later that day when they were putting together the newsy shipment one of the workers i’ll call him Bob got burned by some melted plastic, he managed to get off and the burns weren't too severe but it was still strange. There was very little splash from the plastic, and the corporate made sure of that. Buy industrial accidents were that out of place I mean it was a small town factory, so despite Bob saying he didn't even see anything slash him I thought nothing of it.. Nothing strange happened until a few weeks later when the last bit of non Pony components had been used up that things got out of hand. OH SHIT a guy in a suit just walked in the library were I'm writing this! Ill have to finish later
