Crime Scene

"This is the place".

I stepped out of the police car and walked inside the building. It was 1:00 am and a fierce storm caused a total blackout in half the city.

"The elevator isn't working, we will have to take the stairs," said the cop who drove me there.

Three floors later and we arrived the crime scene.

There was another cop near the open apartment door.

"John," he said to the other cop. "I see you brought the detective unharmed."

"He is a pretty good driver, but we had to go slowly since we could barely see," I replied.

After we introduced each other I learned that the other cop's name was Mark and the driver is John. "How long have you been here?" I asked "About forty minutes." answered Mark "We received a noise complaint from the neighbours and when we arrived and saw what's inside, John had the idea to call the station asking for a detective." "Go talk to the neighbours while I examine the crime scene." They went as I asked and I entered the apartment.

It was dark—very dark. I turned on my flashlight and what I saw next made me jump. There was a male body inside a pool of blood in the middle of the living room. I approached the body and as I got closer I could see that there was a hole in his abdomen and that his stomach was ripped somehow. I couldn't find any prints but when I looked to his leg I could see that someone grabbed him there. Maybe when he was trying to run for the door? But then he was running from what?

BAM!

A bolt of lightning struck outside, illuminating the whole room for a few seconds. During that time I thought I could see someone in the corner. Or was it my imagination? I decided to enter a room that looked like a bedroom. I was right, it was a bedroom but inside there was a dead woman lying in the bed. When I got closer I could see that her state was similar to the man: covered in blood, hole in the body ripped organs... My guess would be that something attacked the women when she was sleeping and that made the man wake up and when he saw what was happening he tried to run to the door but ended being grabbed by someone... or something.

BAM!

Another bolt of lightning. This time I clearly saw something running to the kitchen. I pulled out my gun but when I entered the kitchen it was empty. I noticed there was another room I didn't check so I walked to the door and when I opened it the room was... normal. Judging by the pink wallpaper and dolls that was a little girl's room. But where was this little girl? For a moment a terrible possibility crossed through my head. Could it be the little girl causing this? No, it was a stupid idea. She didn't had the strength to do that.

There was only one place left to check: the bathroom. I was leaving the bedroom when my flashlight died. In panic, I grab my phone and used its light to guide me around the apartment, although it wasn't near as bright has the flashlight.

I entered the bathroom and nothing seem out of order... until I heard a noise coming from the cabinet below the sink. I pulled out my gun and when I opened the cabinet... there was a little girl crying inside!

"Hey there," I said. "Its alright, I'm not going to hurt you. I'm a cop, see?" I showed her my badge and she stopped crying. "What happened here?"

"I was sleeping when I heard mommy screaming from her room. I opened their door and I saw a monster on top of her! I was so scared and it was so dark! I entered the bathroom and hid in this closet so that thing couldn't find me. I thought it was over but then I heard daddy screaming too and I was too scared to move."

"I'm glad you didn't."

I was helping her get out of the cabinet when we heard a growl and heavy footsteps.

"We have to get out of here!"

I grabbed the girl's hand and dashed to the door. I was reaching the door handle when the thing grabbed my arm. It was big and had a demonic face and red skin. Its eyes were red and his breath was hot. It had a spiked tail and strong arms. The last thing I remember was a little girl screaming and the beast's teeth being buried into my neck.
