Diablo II: Mephisto's Nightmare

If you think this is fake, then think what you will, for the story i'm to tell you is real, I swear.

I was at a garage sale when I saw one of my favorite games, Diablo, for sale. The disc, however, was probably illegal, seeing as it was just a Phillips CD-R with "Diablo II PDP" hastily written on it. Along the bottom it read "Nightmare Expansion". Now I've only heard of one official expansion to The legendary Diablo II game, that being Lord of Destruction. When I went up to the counter to asK how much the game was, the man started to cry, and it started raining. He immediatly stopped and said, "Because you seem like a cool guy, I'll take $3.29." I should have stopped and left there. Why did he say $3.29? That was the EXACT amount of money I had on me at the time. I paid the dude and he told me something that haunts me to this day, even though at the time it sounded like something to just intimidate me about the boss. The dude said, "Mephisto cannot be defeated, don't destroy the soulstone!" Whatever, I was guessing whatever he said was a odd myth or secret, like the cow level or something.

When I got home Iimmediatly went to my computer to start up the game. ThIngs got weird right from here. The download screen booted up and screaming, hyper realistic screaming, exploded out of my speakers. The sound got louder. These were new damn speakers so I decided to turn the volume down a little bit. the screaming got louder. so I turned the volume down to one. The screaming was louder than ever. Then it stopped. Just stopped.Brickwall stopped. Then my pc background changed, It had Lord Diablo Holding up a barbarian that had my guys armor on him. He was missing a leg. On the bottom of the screen it said "prepare Justin, you will know fear." "Well that was a nice touch," I thought to myself, "it has my name on the bottom. Guess it can read my profile..."

The weird thing was, my profiLe name was Mr.Goodbar.

So I cLicked Download. Right before i clicked this though, i remembered that you usually needed a code, and the code was nowhere to be found. When i clicked Download, 666 66666 6666666 666 flashed on my screen. That freaked me a little bit. Not too much though, you see, I had been looking for a diablo expansion for years now, so now I got this, and i was desparate. Too desparate to be scared by little changes. So I typed the code in and it was accepted. The game downloaded onto my pc really fast. Abnormally fast. I click start game and the first odd thing i realise in game is that There were two profiles. I had only made one. One was called Pak, which was my guy. The other was called Justin. The Justin profile looked like Warriv with a Spike impaled in his heart. This creeped me out just a little too much. I decided it was best if I just deleted the file, so i did. But just as I deleted him, the screen went black, and the only thing visible was Warriv in the center of the screen. He said the traditional "Good day!" like he does in the game, and stood there for about 5 seconds. Then Akara walked behind him and Shoved a spike through his heart. Warriv started screaming "Why! Why! WHY!!" and the screen went back to the character selection screen.

His screams were still audible when I picked Pak - who was the only character now -, and even while the game was loading. The loading screen was different too. Instead of a slowly opening door, it was Gheed slowly being decapitated by Akara. When it was done loading, the image stayed on screen, and the screams from the startup screen started again, along with akara laughing evilly. The image got larger and then faded into the game. Oddly, i started in the Rouge Encampment, even though I was at the Pandemonium Fortress when I played the original DII. The place looked different now. Warriv wasn't there, and when I went to see gheed to sell some of my crap, he was laying on the grass, which was on fire. He was crying tears of blood, and his neck was bleeding profusely. When I went to talk to him, he said, "Save me justin!!" and the screen started to get a little fuzzy. My character's name was Pak dammit, why does everyone say my REAL name?? His body then exploded and I got some of his weapons that he was selling. They were all Soulstones though. Odd names too, like "Robby's soulstone," and "Tabitha's soulstone," and scariest of all, "Justin Robert's Soulstone." How did the game ever get my middle name, i never put that ANYWHERE on my computer! I went to Akara because she was the only mage in the encampment, and she was holding a head attached to a spine. When I went to talk to her, she said nothing, but the screen zoomed to where it was just me and her, and she slowly reached to my head. Pak was screaming now, and akara simply said "goodbye." She slowly decapitated my character and he slumped over onto the ground. The grass caught fire and my head that she was holding was crying tears of blood. Pak's body exploded.

I sat there for about a good half hour trying to decipher the enorMousmindfuck I had just saw. Then the character select screen popped up again. Pak was gone, but Justin was there again. Except now he was a level 99 barbarian with Golden armor. I decided there was no harm in playing as an epic barbarian, so i did just that. I then looked at my inventory and saw there was only one item other than the epic armor and weapons, and that was Mephisto'sSoulstone. I looked at my quests and It said to go to the hellforge. There was no hellforge at the encampment... But whatever this was an expansion. I picked up one Item on the way out... Justin's Soulstone. Also since now it was an option, I killed that bitch Akara and got Warriv's head and Pak's head. I literally took two steps outside of the encampment and there was the hellforge. I destroyed Mephisto'ssoulstone, Which should have been impossible since I didn't have the hellforge hammer. Evil laughter echoed throughout my house. The lights exploded. The light on my computer turned red. I looked in my inventory and both Warriv's head and Pak's head were laughing and crying tears of blood. Then I started to hear voices in my head when I looked at Justin's soulstone. The voices said "Do it. Do it. Do it..." I put the soulstone on the hellforge. I destroyed it. Then my character turned around to face me, and started to scream "WHY YOU SICK BASTARD, WHY!!" he screamed this three times and then his head exploded. His screaming just continued.

ThEre was a sharp pain in my spine. I know that I shouldn't have done this. I can't sleep. I can't eat. I can't leave the company of friends or family in fear of them coming to get me.

NEVER PLAY NIGHTMARE EXPANSION. EVER! YOU WILL BE TORMENTED BEYOND YOUR MINDS EXTENT! NEVER DESTROY MEPHISTO'S SOULSTONE. NEVER TALK TO AKARA.
