Digger World

Not too long ago I introduced you to the Digger, one of the many strange and unusual beings said to inhabit the Minecraft servers - For more information see the original report).

However since informing you of this phenomena I have had an encounter of my own with Digger - which is about as crazy as it sounds so forgive me for what may well sound like a terribly cliched, over-reaction to what is likely a glitch, a griefer or simple over-active imagination.

It began not long after I wrote my first report on Digger, deciding to play a little Minecraft I logged in to my usual world, I prefered to work in singleplayer mode under what is known as Creative Mode: as such my world was my own and I did not have to worry about collecting resources or fighting of mobs of monsters at night.

So imagine my surprise when I saw that my world had undergone some serious deconstruction in my abscence - the blocks were an absolute mess, as if someone had been mindlessly mining the area with no regard whatsoever to the surrounding environment: I looked around and saw a vast network of irregular tunnels and caves, which had obviously been carved out of the landscape but certainly not by my hand.

I explored a little and found the source of this destruction, yet as soon as I saw it I had to back off for a moment to make sure I wasn't fooling myself - it was another player, digging relentlessly at the landscape and paying absolutely no heed to myself or any obstacles in his path.. just as Digger was reported to do..

I didn't want to continue this encounter and logged off. Opting to get some needed sleep and by the time I woke up the next morning I had convinced myself that this was all a silly dream or a cruel prank.

Thus I logged back onto Minecraft and set about returning to my world only to find that my file had been renamed "Digger World" - I didn't waste much time, I deleted that world without even thinking and promptly turned Minecraft off.

I have yet to log back onto Minecraft but I will likely do so soon, thankfully creating a new world is a simple task and since I tend to play on Creative Mode I hadn't really lost anything valuable - yet I won't lie.. as silly as it sounds.. I am still a little freaked out by the whole incident.

You see when I first reported Digger I was pretty much of the mind that Digger was a bit like Herobrine or the Enderman (the legend, not the actual mob) - a modern ghost story.. now I'm not so sure and that in itself makes me uneasy.
