Ezlo Didn't Cry

I can't tell if there's something wrong with me or if this is for real or... if this is just some cruel trick. I...guess......I should start at the beginning. My favorite game for the GBA is "The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap". I thought it was fun, a lot like 'Link to the Past' and very cute too.

Jack liked it too, he was a bit of a douche, but still my friend. He also loved to mod games. When he asked for my copy of Minish cap, I was worried to say the least. He promised no modding, but I didn't believe him.

I reluctantly gave it to him, thinking he would mod it and hopefully make the game even better. In the mean time I played some Metal Gear and had completely forgotten about it. But about a week later Jack showed up at my door, handed me the game and left without a word. As he walked away, I tried to ask him what was wrong. He did not answer. My parent's asked if everything was okay, and I told them I was fine, and that was Jack returning my game. Later that night, I decided to see if Jack had made any cool changes to the game, I love Minish cap, but some new content would be great.

I started up the game and nothing had seemed any different. The game was the same. I was disappointed, but decided to play through it anyway since it had been a while. Something was off about the intro. All the townsfolk mentioned a celebration, just like the normal intro. However the Picori were never mentioned at all. Instead of Zelda being turned to stone by Vaati, she simply vanished. The king told me to go find the earth element in Minish woods. When I got there, some things were off. Ezlo did ask for help, I didn't see him at all.

The absence of a scripted scene, made me think that maybe Jack did change it. I continued on a few steps and was very surprised. Where the Minish village was, there was nothing but an empty lot of dirt. The dirt was covered in foot prints, and at the rear of the lot, there was a chest. I opened it expecting a few rupees or something and was shocked to find that it had the earth element in it. No Dungeon, no build up, nothing. I left the woods, without being able to, or having to shrink. As I was walking back to Hyrule, I noticed that there were no forest Minish anywhere.

I went into town and everything was normal, but when I walked over to Anju's house, she was not blocking the door like normal. SO I went inside and finally saw a Minish. It was a speck and a small bubble showing his face, like when you see them in the over world. This was odd, so I went over to talk to him. He simply said 'Please no more!' I also noticed that the mouse hole in Anju's house was gone. I left the house, seeing as how there was nothing else to do, and went to the shop.

There were no items only specks in jars. There were faces, to indicate that they were Minish, but the faces were bloodied, bruised and crying. I was extremely flustered and left immediately. I then noticed a garbage can that was not normally in the game. I went to it and pressed A. The lid opened to reveal piles of Minish. Their faces motionless, bloody and rotting.

At this point I turned the game off like any sane person would. At least...I tried to. Though I flipped the switch on my Gameboy advanced SP, the screen remained on and a message appeared saying: "So you choose to ignore this?" prompting a yes or no response. I closed the Gameboy, terrified. I decided to go back downstairs and play some Metal gear, or some Marvel vs Capcom or any other fucking game. I got the t.v into the proper input, then went to sit back down. But on my chair, was the Gameboy advanced SP, with the prompt still on the screen. I was scared, and wanted to ask my parents for help but they had left to attend a company dinner for my dad's office. I ran to my room, and the Gameboy was there. Scared out of my mind, I picked it up, seeing as how it would not leave me alone.

I selected 'yes' and nothing happened, not even a sound effect. So carefully, I hit 'no' and the game teleported Link to Hyrule castle. I was in a room with no doors, I saw Zelda standing there, Vaati's second form was there as well, along with Malon and Link's grandfather. Suddenly Zelda said "Why side with them?". The text disappeared without me even pressing a button.

The screen flashed and Vaati's laugh was heard. Then the animation for Link shrinking played. On the screen was a Minish, I was controlling him, even though the game should not have animation for a Minish walking, it did. There were no walls only floor. I walked forward for a little bit and saw a giant pair of shoes, also art that should not be in the game.

They looked like, Zelda's heels and a dialog box appeared saying "Remember how we used to play as kids, let's do that again!". I made the Minish move down and found a pair of feet block the screen. The dialog said "I raised you better than this". I went left, and encountered Malon's feet. The dialog said "you have something that belongs to us.

Lastly I went right, and encountered a glowing pair of purple shoes, and Vaati said "You", not just in a text box but also a voice clip. The screen went black for a moment then reappeared showing the four of them around a table, with a bottle on it. The screen faded again and reappeared showing the inside of the bottle. There was the Minish, covered in blood and mortally wounded. Link's hat was on its head, and finally the game shut off.

I tried turning the game back on, to see if I had just imagined it all. The game would not run again. I immediately realized that Jack had play a trick on me. The next day, I went to Jack's house to tear him up about the prank. His mom answered the door and I asked to see Jack. She had a confused look on her face so I repeated that I needed to speak with her son.

She told me that she didn't have a son, and asked me to leave. I went home stupefied. I told my parents what had happened, and they also said they did not know who I was talking about. The same thing happened when I confronted my other friends. Jack was gone. I'm not sure if this is some sick and well-planned joke, or if I'm going insane, but if anyone meets a guy named Jack, never give him any of your games.
