I opened my eyes. Well, I tried... everything was black. I had to convince myself that I hadn't gone blind and that I was in pure darkness. That did not seem to make me feel any better, though. Why was I here? How did I get here? My mind was racing with so many questions; nothing made any sense. My pockets were empty, but thank God, I had my clothes on still. I started feeling around the walls to find any means of escape. The walls were cold to the touch and really rusty. Eventually, I found a handle. I pulled as hard as I could and, to my surprised, it opened up swiftly; so swiftly that I fell back. I was blinded by the light for a few seconds. My vision slowly came back and I saw the shadow of a hooded figure standing in the doorway.

"What kind of joke is this?" I said in a pretty angry tone. "You're gonna be hearing from my lawyer."

The figure, I think it was a man, just stood there. I saw that he was holding a machete in one hand. This made my heart skip a beat or two.

"What do you want? Money? Because I can get you money, believe me," I pleaded. My life was at stake, I didn't want to die like this.

The man made a hand gesture for me to get up and follow him. I had no place to run, so I followed; I could tell that pissing this guy off would be idiotic. I scanned the environment as we walked. Rusty metal walkways everywhere, fires used to light most areas, oil spills covering the walls... I've never been religious, but I was starting to think that I was in Hell. The man took me to a locked door, unlocked it and pushed me in. He closed the door behind me and I heard it lock. I immediately began banging on the door and yelling.

"Come on! Let me out, man! What the hell are you doing!"

"It's pointless," said a voice behind me, I nearly jumped out of my skin from surprise. "You're not gonna get out by making all that noise."

"Damn, man! You nearly scared me to death."

"Sorry, but we're stuck here until that guy gets back."

"Do you have any clue why we are here?"

"Hi, I'm Jason," he said sarcastically. "Nice to meet you."

I sighed. "This isn't a joke! I wanna get out of here! No time for games. I'm Rick, got it?"

"I know it's not a joke!" he replied. "I'm in the same situation as you; I don't know what's going on. Just trying to keep calm, ya' know?"

There was a sound coming from outside the room; a screeching of metal being scraped against the rusty walls. It gained in intensity until it sounded as if it was coming from right behind the door. Then, silence. I got up and kicked the door as hard as I could. "Let me outta here!"

The door opened and the hooded man was there. He just stared in our direction for a few seconds without moving.

"Yo," I waved a hand in his face. "Did you hear me? Let me go!"

I gasped as he punched me square in the jaw. It sent me to floor and I saw teeth leave my mouth followed by a trail of blood. I lay there, clenching my jaw and trying to recover from my dazed state. I looked back and saw the man beckoning for Jason to follow him.

"Wait! What about me? Don't leave me here!" I pleaded, ignored by the psycho.

The door closed once again and I could hear it being locked. What the hell is going on? I ripped off part of my shirt to wipe away the blood pouring from my mouth. I sat in thought and pain for what seemed like hours until I heard the screeching sound again.

"Thank God, he better let me leave now."

The door opened but this time, the man walked in. He grabbed me by an arm and lifted me to my feet. He grabbed my hair and pulled my head back to examine the damage he did. I heard him chuckle.

"Yeah, laugh it off. Wait till I get out of here."

"If..." he said in a very low tone.

"If? If what? What did you mean by that?"

The bastard didn't respond. He just dragged me through the halls by my arm. He brought me to a glass room that over-looked the factory. I could hardly see anything, though; there were no lights. I was pushed into the room and landed on my face. Even more pain pierced through my whole head. The door was closed and locked, this was becoming routine by now. I looked for anything to try and smash through the glass. Nothing. I tried using my fist; the only thing that accomplished was a stronger headache. I sat in a corner and put my head in my arms. Many uneventful minutes passed. I started dozing off. I dreamt of this all being a dream. I was back home in my bed, about to go to work and do what I do best: Make money.

An alarm woke me up abruptly. A red light above my head shined and blared out a loud, ear piercing scream. I stood up and looked out of the glass window. Just then, a spotlight cut on. In it was Jason, the psychotic madman and a machine made up of mostly blades behind the two. The psycho had his machete up to Jason's neck. A light in the room turned on to my right. It was a control panel. There were only two functions on it: "Grind" and "Die". I stared at the buttons and then back at Jason and the machine behind him.

"Kill or be killed, huh?" I said to myself. "Damn... this isn't gonna end well.

I stared at my choices again. I knew what I would do. I knew that I was going to only think about myself. I just couldn't press the button.

"Choose," said that sicko's voice over an intercom.

I stuck my middle finger up him and yelled, "Go to hell!" even though I knew he wouldn't hear me.

"Faster!" he said. I heard something click behind me and saw smoke slowly start filling the room.

Looks like I have to do it now. I reached out towards the "Grind" button and pressed it down. It made a buzzer noise and shined a bright red light. I looked up at Jason. He was struggling to avoid the grip of that sick freak. He couldn't stop him though; the man had a strong grip. He pulled Jason in front of the machine. The blades were spinning rapidly now. Jason made one final attempt to struggle before he was pushed into blades. Blood and guts went everywhere and Jason's lifeless body, or what was left of it, shook violently.

I turned away and saw the door start opening. I rammed through it and sprinted through the catwalk. There was a door with a dimly lit "EXIT" sign and I pushed it open.

Daylight streamed through the door and nearly blinded me. It took me about 5 minutes to get adjusted to being back outside. As soon as I could, I started running outside of the alleyway that I was in. I made it to the sidewalk before it hit me... I don't know if it was exhaustion or shock, but I blacked out.

I woke up in a hospital with a huge headache. The doctors asked me what happened, I told them that I got into a fight with a guy who mugged me. I doubt they would believe me if I told them what happened... and I didn't want to have to relive those things I had seen. I was released from the hospital that day. I went home and tried to take my mind off of the murder I just witnessed. But it's been bothering me... I can't get it out of my mind. No matter what I do, I keep seeing Jason being shoved into the machine. This is all too much. I can't live with this on my conscience. Maybe "Grind" and "Die" weren't a choice, but instead, an order of events. I chose to "grind" one person; now it's my turn to die. I guess Karma really is a bitch.

So here I am typing my final thoughts. I have this shotgun ready to use its only loaded shell. To any one who sees this- huh? I just got an email from an unknown sender. I guess it won't hurt to check it. A picture message without any message. Downloading now... Oh God... Those eyes...
