GTA Cult
Hi everybody I just felt I needed to share this with someone whoever reads this story I hope you know this is something that is very hard for me to say to get someone to believe me. Anyway this happened to me when I was a freshman in college and had a kind of douche of a dorm mate.
Why is he a douche well we were friends but he had this nasty habit of coming late every night and by night i mean morning around 3 am while I would be fast asleep.
It wouldn’t be that bad if only he didn’t make so much noise coming in and also he would turn on all the lights in the room. He would do this on most nights and though it irritated I was quite about it because I’m that type of guy and so I didn’t really say anything.
And don’t ask me where he goes at night we don’t talk much unless it was homework and video games our favorite game being GTA 4 which so happens that he bought for me on my birthday like I said he wasn’t a bad guy just a little douche at times.
So anyway we played that game most of the time together we got through it and also played all the main events and even the multiplayer and everything seemed fine until 2 night before my big test which I was studying for pretty hard for even though we took the same classes Jerry my dorm mate seem to just fly by on studying and this time it was no different it was around 7 pm and he was going out with a big bag. I asked him where he was going all he said was it was important and was there was seriousness in his voice he left without another word.
And so I studied till 12 am like a good boy and decided to get some sleep I was also expecting to be woken up at 3 am by Jerry surprisingly there was no disturbance in the night and i had slept well. I woke up and Jerry was not there and his bed looked like he had not slept in it I didn’t think much of it since i thought he was with his buddies.
So i went to class as usual and came back around 4 pm still no sign of Jerry i decided to ask my dorm neighbor but no one saw him I decided to let it go and hit the books that night something strange happened well it sounds strange now if i think about it now but then it was normal.
At about 2 am in the morning the door opened and i thought Jerry had come back the lights flickered on and off i woke but no one was there, no Jerry no one the lights were on though so I got up and switch it off thinking it was an electrical problem I went back to bed 2 min later it turned on again a little irritated I got up to switch it off again but a while later it was on again i was getting pissed so I glared at the room called out to Jerry to see if it was a prank but there was no answer.
It was obvious I was alone I turned off the light and still thought it was an electrical problem and thought maybe I should report it to the headmaster or maintenance guy tomorrow. I went back to sleep where I had a dream where Jerry was standing in front of me and looked incredibly sad and filled with regret don’t ask how I knew, I just knew.
I woke up at around 4 am disturbed and since it was Saturday I wouldn’t have class tomorrow so I decided turn on my TV all the channels sucked so I turned on my PS3 to I couldn’t decide what to play since I had a huge collection of games, but for some reason one game stuck out it was GTA 4.
Oh well, I thought to myself and popped it into the console it loaded and seemed fine until it suddenly stopped and started automatically downloading a file it was called xx34im and it was 25MB size it was strange since the game was updated I tried to cancel it but it wouldn’t let me and my controls wouldn’t respond so I had no choice but to let it download.
It took about 2 minutes to install. The game started back up again but something was off now in the menu there was an option called extra content. I clicked it and it loaded a cut scene. The cut scene started and it was weird since again I had no control over the game things only got weirder from there.
It didn’t have the usual characters and my character wasn’t there either it was just a big room filled with people some looked familiar especially one guy that looked like Jerry who was staring at the screen almost looking at me this creeped me out in fact the whole scene creeped me out. I tried to skip the scene but couldn’t.
It was just a big room with what looked like a punch bowl filled with red punch or at least what I thought was punch it looked like blood now that I think about it sitting on a table in the middle of the room. Everyone was dressed weird too in a brown ropes. I never seen anyone in the game dressed like that ever.
It was like a gathering with one guy standing in front of everyone he poured something into the bowl I didn’t see what it was it was blue in color I never seen npcs act like this in the game there was no dialog either they looked like they were in a trance.
I wanted to quit but I couldn’t I just felt like I needed to know what was going on it drew me closer to the scene I felt like I had to watch this. Then all of a sudden the characters started to move in a single line they had red plastic cups the type you see in a party. The cult leader then poured the punch into each of their cups they stood in a circle including the one that looked like Jerry.
He was still looking at at me as he drank the punch and then all of a sudden there were ear piercing screams and one by one they fell to the ground as the screen got fuzzy I could see everyone of them were in pain. moans came from some of them that were gasping for air.
And suddenly the screen went went and for just one instant Jerry's face flashed on the screen and everything just turned off on its own. I removed the disc and went to bed I couldn’t sleep that night then early that morning at about 9 am there were two knocks on my door. I opened the door there were 2 police officers standing outside my dorm room.
They asked me if I was Jerry's roommate I said yes and they proceeded to question me about his whereabouts I said didn’t know and they also asked me when I saw him last I said 3 days ago but I heard him come in early this morning they look at me with a strange look before I asked them what this was about. at which they told me Jerry was involved in a cult of some kind.
He and a dozen more people had committed suicide 3 nights ago I was stunned I couldn’t believe it as they described every part that was exactly as the game I played last night. I didn’t tell the police that of course and just looked shock after a while they left.
And I was left to wonder what the hell just happened to me I took out the disc and tried to find the file so I may convince myself I wasn’t dreaming and maybe help the cops but there was nothing it was like it was never there which made me feel more crazy cause I know it wasn’t a dream even if it was how would i have known about all this before they told me.
After that I never touched that GTA 4 or any GTA game for that matter again. Even though I lend this one to my other friends and they all said it worked great. I am senior now with some disturbance in my room. like sometimes I feel the lights switch on at 3 am and even the TV turns on with static.
But I just tell myself its only 5 more months before I graduate I wish I can afford another place but I can’t so I just have to deal with it for now I guess.
