Houdini's Blade

You're casually walking along at the mall. You feel a sharp pain in your abdomen. Wondering what it could be, you look down to find a knife blade jammed into your torso. No blood comes out, but you fall to the floor and become dizzy.

You look around the crowd to see who could've stabbed you. All you see are people gathering around you to see what happened. You black out.

The next time you wake up, you're in a hospital. Your daughter is there, tears dried on her face. She breathes a sigh of relief when you come to. She tells you that the doctors found nothing wrong with you but wanted to keep you at the hospital to figure out what happened. The security guards looked at the tape of a camera in a nearby store, only to find that it shorted out right before the incident.

'Oh well,' you think, 'at least I'm still alive'.

The pain in your abdomen returns. It steadily intensifies as your vision blurs. The last thing you see is your daughter's worried face. Behind her is a shadowy figure, dressed in scrubs and holding what seems to be a serrated knife.
