House Fire

It was a sunny July afternoon; about 96 degrees outside. Everyone on the block was enjoying the weather. From the teenagers playing football, to the senior citizens walking their dogs, it was a good day.

But through all the laughing and conversing, a fireball erupted from a house.

The house had belonged to the Johnson family. They were a small family. The perfect American family. Everyone on the street knew the Johnson family. So nice. So gentle. So polite.

Sirens blared as fire trucks, police cars, and an ambulance rolled down the nearby streets, making their way to the flame-engulfed house.

A large circle of people gathered around the burning home. Gasps and screams could be heard for miles around, from this circle of people.

Next to me, I heard two women talking about what could have caused the fire:

"Maybe their gasoline exploded!"

"Maybe the oven caught on fire, and burned something flammable."

I just chuckled and slid my lighter back into my pocket.
