I'm Still Here

I'm naturally a very quick sleeper; I hit the bed and I'm instantly out, unable to be waken. Over the past few days, however, I noticed this all changed, where I'm oddly unable to fall asleep and, in a rare instance, I actually find myself tossing and turning constantly, shifting the sheets back and forth as I do so. There would be this constant voice in my ear, speaking to me in gibberish and oftentimes recognizable foreign languages, but it will occasionally speak to me in my very own language.

However, the voices eventually seemed to be coming from all directions throughout my room. Whenever I make the slightest movement, said voices abruptly stop and then continue once I remain still. Yet, I see nothing. The room is pitch black, illuminated only by the soft glow of the moonlight peering through the curtains.

The voices persist and seem to be getting louder and clearer by the night. Few times the floor would vibrate very slowly in intervals and I would feel a presence at the foot of the bed, a foreboding one. I feel as if I'm being watched. Insomnia is followed by hopeless fear and I constantly find myself in a silent scream, desperate for the entity to depart...

...but it won't.

And by the next moon, I see a shadowy figure walk past my bedroom doorway in the hall. It does this several times before stopping right in the center and stands completely motionless, staring at me. The whispers follow.

"I'm still here," the voice proclaims repeatedly.

A sudden blink and the figure has vanished into the dark of the night. By day, I can still feel its presence and I am unable to experience life without having to take a moment and make sure nothing is behind me. My hands may waver very slightly at times and I would shiver whenever the voices reappear.

Yet... I'm still here.
