Crush

Rhyz Zephier, the internet alias of Pat Kolger, a junior in high school and very interessted in computers and software design, and a little game design. While talking in a chat room on a forum he frequently went on, he asked if anyone knew of a website where he could download a cheap, downloadable piece of software, to help his programs run better (by means of shutting down background programs), and got a link from a user who hadn't been actively participating in the chat. Pat had trusted the person enough, and clicked the hyperlink. A tab opened and closed just as quickly, then a window appeared asking to simply run the program or save it, Pat clicked run to see if it'd work before saving it to his hard drive. A face appeared, tilting back and forth, and the word "sucker" appeared in flashing rainbox text beneath it. Pat closed the program and told the person that sent him the link to cut the crap or just leave. It got late and Pat still had homework, so he left the chat and went to type a story for his english class (the assignment was to write what he knows about how to make a well structure story, for any of you who are curious).

His computer made the alert ping, and a small speech box appeared at the bottom right of the screen, like it would if there was something important you needed to know. When he clicked the box another window appeared, this on had the same face (just not tilting) and at the bottom it said "Hello, Rhyz." Annoyed, Pat closed the program again, and got back to work, thinking of how he could block the program. Again the window appeared, without warning, same face, different text again. "Hello, Pat," it said this time. Scared, Pat closed it and looked for a way to block it. How did the program know his name? He never gave his real name to any website or disclosed it to anyone over the web. This time he heard a ping, looked in the bottom right, and saw another message box. "What's wrong, Pat? Don't you like me?" Pat turned his computer off, ignoring the english essay, and went to bed.

Getting His Attention

The next day was normal, he met his friends in the hall and told them what had happened, they shrugged it off, said it was just someone being a prick and that he should sweep his computer. After PE, things got kind of weird, it was Pat's last class, English (his teacher wasn't happy he didn't have his assignment finished). He sat next to the window, and started gazing. When he looked outside he saw someone looking back at him. The person, a woman, had a sign in her hand. "Don't you like me," it read, Pat jumped and tried moving away from the window. He asked if he could be excused, but was denied, however he was allowed to change seats. School was out, Pat ran to his bus, was the first one on.

He hoped she hadn't followed him, the lady from before. He looked out the window, saw a sign hanging from a tree branch. "Why don't you like me, Pat?" He turned away and saw the lady walking by his bus, he hid, she hadn't noticed him. Who was she, Pat thought. How does she know me? His bus arrived at his house, he went right inside and began doing his homework, relieved the day was almost over. Damnit he still had to finish his essay, he totally forgot. He swept his computer clean, and had to restart the whole essay, should've saved it the night before. An hour and a half, that's how long it took, and when he was done he was so happy nothing had opened or tried to. The sweep must've worked, he printed his essay, but he looked at it in confusion and fear when reading it. It was an essay, yes, but not the essay he had printed. It was an essay of how someone had liked him, and why he hadn't like her. It mention a girl Pat had liked, and how the writter was jealous, and would do anything to get his attention away from the girl. He ripped it up, tossed it in the fireplace, figured it'd burn well, that my feel-. Never mind, on to the next day.

Love Hurts

He walked in to school, met up with his friends as usual, but one was missing. Alicia, the girl he had liked, where was she? He ran from school, went back home, a whole five miles, he didn't care. He immediately got on the chat again, looked for the user that sent him the link, looked for m-. He found the person, and PMed them, as not to make a scene. He asked what the hell their problem was and where Alicia was. The person didn't answer, to no surprise, so Pat had nothing else to say in retort, since there was no responce. He sat on his bed, in shock, sadness and fear.

Why had he cared for the girl so much? I-. Nevermind. He heard a knock at his window (one story house), and opened it to find the woman from before. She pushed him and climbed in, she had a pair of scissors, bloody, the murder weapon of Alicia. He looked at the woman, a crazed expression on her face, she looked back and said "now it's just me, now you only like me, right Pat?" He screamed, threw a nearby glass at her, she nearly cried from the pain. "That hurt, Pat. Why would you hurt the woman you love? You have to be punished for such abuse." She approached Pat with the scissors, he was pinned against a wall and, well, needless to say, he died. Now, you may be wondering why this is in third person, well, you see, I saw it all happen, I was there. I really liked Pat, but he didn't like me back. Sad, but that's okay, now he's with me, in my house, forever... Right, Pat?
