It's a Small World Nightmare

Disney theme parks have a ride called "It's a Small World After All", that's basically a ride showing dolls representing ethnic groups of the world singing about how it's a small world after all. I remember one rumour that basically suggests that "It's a Small World After All" was about world peace, and that evidently it was one of Walt Disney's intentions.

Well, who doesn't dream about World Peace? I'm not entirely sure myself if Walt Disney really had much to do with It's a Small World, since he did die the same year that "It's A Small World After All" was completed in Disneyland. (Mind you this is the only park that he saw finished.) Well, even if the ride wasn't made until 1966, the same year Walt Disney died, he could have been inspired by the kinetic sculpture that appeared in 1964.

I'm getting ahead of myself. There has been some rather bizarre experience that some cast members and park guests have apparently experienced. This has happened throughout all of the Disney theme parks, although most of the people who've reported as having experienced this nightmare had gone to the California park or Disneyland Paris.

The common themes of the nightmare is that for some reason, the people dream they get on a ride with park-goers, some of which they recognize as being people they saw in the park earlier that day. At first it's normal, kids singing that ear-worm song, "It's a small world after all."

Then all of a sudden when they get in, the waters started to get a bit turbulent and things went wrong.

Instead of entering with dolls with smiles on their faces (In the most stereotypical garb you can imagine) the dolls appeared to be like something out of a stereotypical creepypasta. A few dolls appear to have rather obvious injuries on them, looking like Achmed's son from Jeff Dunham's act. Some dolls are missing legs, others have facial burns, some may be missing arms or legs, and some of the more disturbing ones appear to be missing skin, but thankfully they don't have a skeleton or blood rendered, instead it looks almost comical.

Other dolls appear to be holding weapons, some may be seen driving tanks, in airplanes, climbing in hummers, or pointing guns up and down, some almost directly at the viewers, but on the other side, one can see other soldier dolls holding weapons. Sometimes they may be standing over heads of dolls that have blank stares, like well, a doll.

The music is another common theme, to excuse the pun. It appears to actually be simply playing the small world theme backwards, except that a lot of people can make out words in the lyrics. Instead of pure nonsense, people can actually all make out intelligible words amongst the normal garbled mess of playing songs backwards.

"War is better... Walt's asleep. Forever Walt's asleep, forever Walt's asleep."

According to people who have this nightmare, people hear them singing this a few times, not just hearing a phrase once or twice. The riders continue on this strangely turbulent flume ride, before they hit a stop, next to dolls who chant, "War is better, Walt's asleep. Forever Walt's asleep, forever Walt's asleep" and then they start going up... up... up up up... it's just like Splash Mountain."

They look to the side and see images of people dead. However, they look peaceful, like they're asleep. Maybe like they died in their sleep, like Walt Disney supposedly did. However, at the top, they see a banner of "Ashes to Ashes". They can still hear those words.

"War is better, Walt's asleep. Forever Walt's asleep, forever Walt's asleep."

Then they go down a plunge just like in Splash Mountain. All they can see is a black void, and they vanish into the inky darkness, no longer hearing those words, but instead hearing screams from other riders and themselves. Then they hear noises of guns firing, but it's fake, and can see flashes of strobe lights accompanying these screaming. They continue to ride through this seizure of bombs, eventually hearing airplanes and tanks. Things start to be quiet before they go through a door that opens up into a room full of dolls who look frightened, but still obviously fake. Then they hear more and more banging noises and see more flashes, looking behind them to see soldier dolls holding guns up towards the crowd and apparently firing.

Then they pass through another door, and see dolls lying down, some of them face-down, or some holding books with broken hands (or even one hand) and singing, "War is better, Walt's asleep. Forever Walt's asleep, forever Walt's asleep."

Before they finally leave out the standard exit, that has the goodbyes in the postcards. They then emerge into the daylight, and then they start waking up at different times. The furthest anyone has ever gone was up to seeing more happy park-goers smiling cheerfully, wanting to go on It's a Small World After all.

I'm inclined to believe this is just a nightmare, or some kind of elaborate hoax. I have been linked to the "It's a Small World Backwards" song via TVTropes and it does sound a little like just some kind of hoax that some bored person thought up upon hearing that and thinking it sounded a little like "War is better, Walt's asleep." If anything it sounds more like a creepy coincidence.
