Lana the Invader Girl

I used to work at an anime dubbing company in the late 90s. Usually I'd be notified of what anime we were dubbing at what time however this time it was a little more different. We had recently hired some new people on are team, two guys and three gals. They were nice people and all, but something was off about them. They were very secretive about there personal life and even about what they do after work. One day a friend of mine received not one but 4 VHS tapes from one of the guys. Not knowing what to do with it, he gave them to me. He told me that the new guy gave it to me but said nothing. Confused, I took a look at the tapes. One of them had some tape on it with " Lana the invader girl ep.1" written on it. I told my friend i would look at it latter so I can have time to figure out what this was. My first thought was that it was a dub that was done without permission or something like that since something like this almost happened. I also tried to figure out what show Lana the Invader girl was a dub of. The word invader brought up a few names to my mind, Macross (For some reason) and Urusei Yatsura (Annoying aliens in English), Both anime's about aliens. I decided not to overthink it and go home to check the tapes out. As soon as I got home I rushed to the TV and popped the VHS tape with Lana the invader girl ep.1 in. I was expecting something bad to happen, but nothing did. As the Intro started playing it became clear that the show was in fact Urusei Yatsura, A very heavily edited and butchered version of it. In Fact, the intro itself is just a lousy pop song (the original intro was in Japanese obviously). However after the intro was when it started to get weird. It starts of normal with some people playing baseball and the main character Ataru (Aaron in this case) walking around and doing what he does. One of the players hits the ball very far and hits Aaron. Aaron then proceeds to let out a hyper realistic scream of pain, as if the voice actor was actually hit with a baseball going at high speeds. Then the screen cuts to black with some white text reading "do not interfere". I was little creaped out but still curious so I kept watching. I then cuts to Aaron arriving at his house and being greeted his mom and his girlfriend Shinobu (in this case Sherry) and the introduction of the Oni aliens. There was again another scene where it sound like the VA's were in pain. Then we finally get to see the second main character Lum (Lana in this case) except the imagery started to get distorted and messed up. The hole episode kept repeated the same stupid cycle of hyper realistic sounds, random text, and distorted images. I was started to get annoyed and was about to take out the tape until the screen when back and two dates in red showed up,September 23 1974 and August 31 1989, and the end credits played. I thought this was kind of weird since the text before were all in white and were only a few words like "I hate you" and crap like that. I took out the previous tape out and put in the next one,ep.2, to see if it was normal,it wasn't. Same old name changes (except for ten his name stayed the same) hyper realistic sounds, random text, and distorted images. At the end however it show two other dates showed up, July 5 1959 and May 14 1961. Tried ep.3, Same thing except there was only one date, December 5 1997, A week away from today. That really scared me. I put ep.4 in out of curiosity to see want date will pop up next,so i tried to skip to the end but nothing happened. I ended watching that mess but at the end something spooked me. Instead of a date it read " You know what you did daniel. Admit it. You took Monica from me . You can't F*cking hide it anymore." Then the screen switched to more text reading" You will pay. You and Lana both." At that point was both Creaped out and pissed because on one side I thought this is some sort of clue to a murder, but on the more logical side I thought this was a lousy prank.

The next day I went to the head of the company and showed him the VHS tapes. He watched the first one and was NOT happy. The idiots that made the tapes also decided to credit themselves and they were fired on the spot. Oh,and by the way those people were the new guys and gals,surprise. After that I tried to forget about that whole Fiesta until a week later the thought came back. I heard on the news that apparently one of the new guys (Carl is his name) was arrested for frickin murdering a 26 year old man and his dog plus at the crime scene the words " Your next Dan" written on the walls with Spray paint and one of the new girls (Rita was her name) disappeared somehow. The thing that freaks me out is that it all happened on December 5th. Although this is interesting,but its best not to think about.

Update: One of the VA's of Lana the invader girl's name is Dan but i think this is a coincidence.
