MTR.Lua
Ever wondered what happened if horror and cute went together? This happens with MTR.lua. Some days ago, I bought a Metroid copy for the NES on Ebay, from a guy. The game was in a box, with a paper inside and the game. On the paper there was wrote some codes of Metroid for the Game Genie, I suppose. I was so happy to play Metroid again, it was the first NES game I ever played.
I went up in my room with the codes and the game and started to play Metroid. The game was fine, no bugs, nothing much, maybe some glitches but it was perfect as the original. So after I beat the game, I went to the PC to see videos and stuff. I was bored, so I decided to go back to play Metroid again, with the cheats. In the game I used the normal codes,Sword0 and stuff like that, and then I decided to try the game Genie.
I took it from my library, took the game and putted it inside the game genie and started the NES. Strangely, I thought there was 5 codes, but this time on the paper, there were 6. 5 normal ones that can be found on GameGenie site, and the other one, was weird. It was: DDIIEENO.
I laughed at the similarity with Die Now, just some weird trick, I started the game with the code started on, and instead of the normal screen wrote Metroid on, there was wrote: MTR I said to my self that it was weird, a cartridge that is hacked and not at the same time? Pretty weird.
So I started the game. And here I started to freak out. When you started, you started in the space ship, as normal, but instead of the 2 columns that you find, there was nothing, just a looooong flat space to walk in. I started to walk, weirdly didn't found any monsters or anything, either I go left or right, there was nothing. So I kept walking right.
After 10 minutes, the screen became black, and after some seconds came back normal. Now the game went back to normal again, and I spawn in the area where you had to go up.
Monsters were there, everything was fine. So I jumped up, and up, and up, and up for like 20 minutes, and I didn't discovered that I had to go down instead of up after the 20 minutes.
So I accidentally fell down and every 10 seconds, the tonality of the screen went darker, and darker, and darker... Until, IT became completely black, and for some minutes you could hear some beeps sounds, short and loud. I freaked out, my controller was shaking in my hands, I couldn't stay still.
The game blocked out for a lot of time, black screen, nothing happened. So I pressed the reset button to go back playing normal, but every time I pressed it, phrase appeared for 10 seconds wrote on: You can't go back now. So I decided to wait again, and thankfully, the game went back. Now Samus didn't had the helmet of the tute... Nor the head. It was headless, and she jumped higher than normal.
Blood was exiting out of the part where the head was missing, and the tute became completely black, as the black Samus version. Now I was at the labyrinth, the part where it's hard to go around, where you get the ice gun to freeze enemy. Instead of the normal music, there was a different music.
It was the normal music high pitched, totally fucked up. It was creepy, as the lavandonia theme. Every time I killed an enemy, the sound went a little back to normal, until it went back totally to normal. After killing an enemy I thought nothing would happen anymore. I was wrong. The song kept going down, and down, and down. Until it went to volume 0, and then the screen became black and I heard a scream from my TV, which made me jump. I was so scared, but I couldn't reset the game, or the same sentence would appear.
I kept playing, and now I was at the final boss, the mother brain. Instead of the turrets, there was tentacles and blood everywhere. No lava, just a pool of blood with human parts inside, and divided in two metroids, and other monsters parts. I went to the mother brain, slain her and then the game froze. Each minute, a body part of Samus went away.
First the head, then the arms, the legs, and then the body. Then the game froze forever, I pressed reset and it was all over. I destroyed that game, I was so scared, and then I decided to burn the paper, and keep the story a secret until now. What man could turn a good game, into an holy hell?
