Manticore

The Manticore is a creature believed to have roamed the Asian jungles, waiting patiently for an unwary explorer to approach. The creature has been deemed so terrifying that one glance at it will send enough fear into your nerves to lose your sanity. Some who said of encountering this monster have hardly the breath to speak of it.

It is rumoured to have the body of a large cat, four or six legs, a long tail with a spiky end and a long neck with the head of a man; seeing it's sadistic smile will reveal it has three rows of teeth. Those who have seen this are labeled unlucky, as this is supposed to be the moment it will kill. And when it does kill, it eats all, including the bones and organs leaving not a single trace of anything.

Along with its resemblance to a bearded man when seen from a distance, many explorers have told about hearing it's signature trumpet-like roar. As remarkable as it sounds, anyone who hears this knows it's nothing short of a warning. There are records of encounters in the west, either by somehow migrating or by some other means. I have heard a few things about strange creatures being sighted. That was before I knew what a Manticore even is.

When I did find out, it was creepy. I thought I saw one in a wood once, but that may have just been a panther.
