Mario Massacre

I love Mario games. In fact, I love them so much half the gifts for my birthday were Mario games. But one of them, I hate.

My mother called out to me the day after my birthday. She said I have a parcel. She brought it in. It was wrapped in brown paper and string. No birthday card, no nothing. Just brown paper and string. I put down my Nintendo DS and unwrapped it. Inside, there was a small game cartridge for a Nintendo DS.

There was no sticker on it, a piece of duct tape in it's place with 'Mario' crudely written on the tape. I looked at it, unsure of what to think. But I decided on something, because I took out the game in my Nintendo I was playing at the time, 'Super Mario 64', and tried putting the other cartridge in.

It didn't fit properly, and took me a minute or two to get it in. I turned on my DS. The game hadn't shown up on my screen, so I turned it off and tried again. This time it did. The name of it read 'Super Mario Massacre'. It had no image with it. I tapped the icon with my stylus. Nothing. Again. Nothing. This went on until I decided it was a bootleg someone had sent to prank me with. I took it out and threw it in the bin.

A strange noise woke me from my sleep; I had been dreaming about the game. I heard a muffled, tiny little scratching sound downstairs.

Am I being robbed? I thought. The scratching occurred every five seconds, and it got louder each time as though someone was dragging themselves up the wooden stairs. Finally, I was driven to the point where I got out of bed and grasped my knife on my bedside table. Only it wasn't there.

And the scratching sound finally grew so loud I began whimpering. Where was my knife? What was that sound?

And then, I saw it. A figure with a red cap was dragging itself out from underneath my bed, soaked in blood.

Holding my knife.

ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!
