Mario ROM Hack

I recently just lost a bunch of money on a bet, a pretty stupid one too. That money was going to be used to buy an old Mario game. Now I'm gonna have to go onto some dumb website, and download a Mario ROM, from some shady website, with the chance of me getting a virus on my computer...

Great. The only website I found with a GOOD mario game, was some Russian site. Great. I'll try it, but hopefully my Norton Anti-Virus doesn't flash like a Christmas tree like on the last website...

Ok, after 5 attempts of downloading (and blue screens, mind you) I finally got the Mario game. It was on a simple ROM file, so I opened it up. The title screen was a different color, and Mario was an orange color instead of his normal red. I said to myself "Probably a new texture..." and hit start. Upon spawning in the first level, all the enemies and blocks were not were they were in the SNES version. "Probably the creator's idea" I think.

Hm. I got to the second level. The pipe has a reddish brown color to make it look rusted. Nice touch. Upon landing, there are 2 hammer bros directly in front of me. I take the first one out, when I realize they're throwing little pixelated slime balls. Again, probably the creators idea. I started and kept running for about 5 minutes to see no enemies or blocks, Like I was floating in midair. Well, then I noticed that Mario just fell off the screen. "Great." I then noticed that mario was underground again, but had the same amount of lives.

I then noticed that the floor was a dark red with little splotches of pixelated black. This time, the enemies had little spikes on top of their head, and ran as fast as a sprinting mario, making it impossible to get away. Great, I died again. This third time, the floor was even darker red, but there were only flying koopa's, which had pixelated devil wings and shot fireballs (Like a hammer bro, but with fire).

I was about to quit, when I noticed a pipe that wasn't there before. Being the curious man I am, I went into the pipe. Probably should've exited out, but whatever. I noticed the pipe opened into a water level. The water was a VERY dark green, and the cheep cheeps had half their body replaced by a skeleton. God, that sick person, I'm exiting out.

Great, Blue screen of death once again. Okay, I got the CPU reloaded, but the Mario game was still running. I opened it up, and didn't try to exit out, fearing a computer crash. I was then greeted by the staring screen again, with no mario, but dry bones with Greenish-tan bones. There was no start button, but there was only the exit option. I clicked it (About 10 times) to no avail. I clicked the red X at the top corner when finally the start button appears.

I clicked it, but I was scared of what would come. When Mario spawned, I was right in front of bowser. Well, bowser, yeah, but he was just standing there. I tried to jump over him, but accidentally landed on him. Wait a minute, I didn't die! I pressed the axe at the back, and the sprite fell into some sort of green lava.

I walked over to where the princess should be, but just some pixelated bones lie on the floor. Great, now I'm crying. I'm turning off this sick game. Great. Another blue screen. I picked up the monitor and threw it across the room. The screen flashed red and black before turning into a mess of wires and components.
