Mysterious Minecraft Building

I'm just a normal guy. I love using the Internet and playing Minecraft. That was only until recently.

I was just walking around and I found an abnormal looking mound of dirt. It was really a cover for a Nether brick staircase. It led to a large open room with a redstone lamp in the center of the floor. The walls, floor and ceiling were all entirely Nether brick, and it gave an eerie feeling to the room. I thought this must be some glitch, like a Nether fortress appearing underground in the overworld, seeing that I had never found a Nether fortress before.

The weirdest thing was a sign at the bottom of the staircase. All it said was "Turn back. Now." This freaked me out a bit, seeing that signs normally don't occur in single player mode like this. I continued forward, not paying any attention to the previous sign. There was another staircase, and again the whole place was made entirely of Nether brick. As I reached the bottom, I heard a click. I guess I stepped on a pressure plate or something. There were more signs.

About five lined up in the center of a room that was similar to the first, but smaller. It even had another redstone lamp in the floor. A minor difference was that it had normal wooden planks at the bottom of the staircase.

The signs read: "Why did you continue? Your loss." "Look behind you."

That last one really freaked me out. You could probably guess why. As I turned around I expected something really messed up, like a freaky mob or something like that. But instead, an explosion occured at the foot of the staircase. I turned back to the signs. "Did I do that? Sorry." "It's just a habit. Nothing personal." "But you did decide not to listen to me..." I should've left at that point to never return, but something made me keep going. I turned back around to where the explosion occured. There was a decent-sized hole in the floor. For some reason, I jumped in.

I regretted my descision. In one side of the small room (which had been exposed by the explosion), you could see the redstone torch powering the redstone lamp in the room above. But the walls were made almost entirely of redstone ore. It made the walls seem to be splattered with blood.

That wasn't the worst thing in the room. The same signs as before, which were used to communicate with me by whoever (or whatever), filled the small room. The walls, the floor, covered in them.

But they were all blank. Blank. Like it had nothing to say, but "We're here. All around you. Watching you."

Underneath the opening with the redstone torch, there were more stairs. Nether brick stairs. "Do I go down them? What could be worse than what has already happened?" Of course, I continued.

The entire space was one block wide in a cramped tunnel, completely sealed above and to the sides. There was a two space jump-down, which pretty much meant that I had no return after this. I jumped down. There was one block of Nether brick at the bottom. Beside it on each side was a redstone lamp. There were more stairs afterward. In front of me was another sign. Another damn sign. Below it was a deep hole.

The sign which I hesitantly read said Jump. I have a present for you.

A present? Could it let me get out of this hole and return home? I couldn't guess. I jumped.

I landed in an even smaller room. It was made of wooden planks. The room was 1 space wide and two spaces tall with a trap door sealing the top once I landed. How was this a present? A tiny room which I couldn't escape? I looked around. And made a discovery. Guess what I discovered. Another sign. Of course.

I suddenly realized what this room was.

"R.I.P. CaptainMcCoy_115. 'His arrogance betrayed him.' "

Freaked beyond belief, I immediately turned off my mum's laptop and rolled the swivel chair back. I stood up and turned around to head to the kitchen and get a snack. I stopped dead in my tracks looking forward.

On the floor in front of me was a sign. I watched in horror as the sign was imprinted with letters.

"Why'd you leave so quickly? I didn't even give you my gift, yet."
