New Super Mario Bros. 3 Fan Game

I've always been a gamer. I was born the same day as the NES came out. My first baby toy was not a plush or rattle, but Super Mario Bros. It was a masterpiece in my eyes. Nowadays, there are few games that appeal to me. Then, I bought New Super Mario Bros.

It took me right back to my childhood. Then, the other games came out. The only sequel I got out of them was New Super Mario Bros. 2. It was great, but not as good as the first. Then later, I got a laptop. I looked for some games that could be downloaded for free. Then, I came across New Super Mario Bros. 3.

I was overjoyed. I instantly downloaded it. The file was surprisingly small. When I began to play, The title screen loaded up. The iconic theme was playing. The menu looked like it could have been a real game made by Nintendo. I pressed play. The game started without an opening cutscene, but I didn't care. It was just a fan game after all.

There were only 5 levels, including the mushroom house. I started the first level. The sprites for Mario and the enemies were amazing. They were as good as the sprites in NSMB 2. The game played great and fluently, with minor bugs here and there. In about 10 minutes, I was at Bowser's Castle.

The castle was odd. Mario seemed hesitant to enter, unlike previous games where he just jumps right in. This time, he slowly walked in. The level seemed normal, except there was lightning strikes in the background. Whenever lightning struck, I'd swear the shadows of hanging toads would appear. Very faint shadows.

Pretty soon, I arrived at the end of the castle. There was a door. When I walked in, the music stopped. Then, Bowser's face appeared on screen. "Hello player." He said. I gulped. "Don't be afraid" He said, as if sensing how I feel. "This is just a minigame." I sighed with relief. Just part of the normal game. Then, a screen appeared.

"The Decision Sidequest". It took a few seconds to load. Then, it finished. I went cold. Mario, Peach, and Luigi were all hooked up on nooses. They were standing on platforms. All of them looked at me, scared. Bowser's face appeared in the corner of the screen. "Choose which one doesn't deserve life."

I was shocked. Then, I shook myself. "If I choose one of them, I win the game?" I said to myself. "Correct" Bowser said. I jumped. He responded to my question. I looked among the victims. Mario was the one I grew attached with. Spare him. Peach was a woman. It wouldn't be honorable to let her die. Spare her. Luigi is useless. He's never done anything that helps. His life is meaningless to me. He is a coward. I clicked on him.

Luigi screamed before the platform fell. He kicked around and coughed. Then, he went limp. Dead. I was scared, but at the same time, I felt happy. It felt surprisingly good to kill. Bowser smiled. "You win. Thank you for playing." He said. "Wait!" I said. Bowser looked at me. "Yes?" He said. I didn't know how to say it, but somehow I got the courage to. I took a deep breath. "Hang the rest of them." I said. Bowser smiled.
