Nice Guy
"Hallo, boy-o"
Nice Guy might say
If he saw you walking alone
from school with thoughts
of the social kind buzzing about
in your young and undeveloped head
And you might say, "Hey!"
Hearing the friendliness
Hearing the good natured
intentions at making you
feel less alone
And then you might turn about
and see that Nice Guy doesn't
appear to be so nice as he sounds
But still, his good natured tone
leaves you in doubt, and you
are unsure whether or not you should
up your pace and attempt to evade Nice
Guy
For surely, one thing must betray his true
intentions and mood - be it his cheerful
sing-song voice or his terrifyingly disfigured
countenance
But which is deceptive? And which tells truth?
Do you want to hurt Nice Guy's feelings?
But do you value your life enough to take chances?
And so you decide you will be cautious
You won't allow nice guy to get too close, though he still
follows closely behind
You will carry cheerful conversation but from
a safe distance
Because Nice Guy has not eyes, only
fleshy balls which sit awkwardly within
his sockets
His nose looks like a toe sewn
crudely at midpoint between his
sockets and his mouth, which is
the most humanlike feature upon his
face, though this says not much
It is lipless and the teeth seem forever
gritted, a terribly mismatched expression
for the gentle music that is the voice of
Nice Guy
Your heart races
You are alone, but the day is yet bright
Nice Guy seems to want to catch up
To walk side by side, and continue
conversating casually
But cautiously and warily, you
increase your pace accordingly
Trying to maintain the original
safe distance you quickly decided on
Suddenly Nice Guy ceases to follow you
You turn about and ask, "What is it?"
Heart beating fairly steadily, still unsure
of Nice Guy's intentions and capabilities
"No one wants to be my friend" Nice Guy
begins, "because I have not eyes or a true
nose or mouth"
And strange tears began to seep from Nice
Guy's sockets, which are so misfitted for the
fleshy masses which substitute eyeballs
Tears of green and yellow
And you, disgusted and confused,
Pursue the conversation no more
You carry on hurriedly, nervously
Furtively you march the rest of the way home
But is Nice Guy so passive and so forgiving?
Does a guy as ominious and weird as
Nice Guy let the story end so abruptly?
