No Quitting
The following happened to me while playing DayZ. It's an ArmA 2 zombie mod that focuses on realistic survival. You need to find food, water, medical supplies, etc.
Anyway, I was playing DayZ with a pirated copy of ArmA 2 (Yeah, I know, piracy is bad). The only server I could connect to was on the other side of the world. This meant lots of lag and was always night time when I played, as I wasn't going to stay up 'til 3 in the morning to play during the day.
Everyone on the server was Russian and hackers were rampant, as usual. Some of the things they did would be to teleport everyone 600ft. into the air and let us all fall to our deaths, teleport everyone in one area to shoot us, or to send us all out into the ocean. Every now and then, I'd get connection problems and quit to do something else for a bit. However, when I tried connecting back, the server wouldn't let me in. I kept trying and eventually spawned with a new character. Unfortunately, I was bleeding, and didn't have any bandages.
You see, when you use a pirated copy of ArmA 2, you're using someone else's CD key, too. Since the game identifies you by your CD key, I was essentially sharing my character with someone else I didn't know.
It was dark on the server, and I couldn't get my flashlight to work, so I started running through the nearby forest. After about 10 minutes of running forwards, the screen went black, and the noise of my character's bones snapping played. It was the same sounds as when you fall off a tall place and break your legs. The only thing on the screen were the words "No Quitting".
