Obiectum
The following was transcribed from a voice recorder that was aboard the IPS Gallileo.

The only thing, the only thing, keeping me from going, what was it? Insane, yes, that was it, insane, was this little voice recording machine that records voices that I scavenged off of a guy with a suit, a guy with a suit, uh, uhh... A businessman! I took this voice recorder off a business man.
The thing, thing, the thing is making everyone crazy, like mentally crazy, they're just normal one second and BAM they're a nut case. I'm not. I'm not a nutcase. I can't be a nutcase. I.. I.. I'm still thinking, speaking. I can't be crazy, not yet, not yet!
This all started a few days ago. Was it six? No, it had to be five days ago, people went on with their every day lives. Shopping, mining. Existing.
Then it was found. IT, the thing, the object called Retorta-Obiectum, named for its shape. From the moment I saw it, I knew it, I knew it was evil. I told people. I told them, but nobody believed me. It's their fault for not believing me. It's THEIR fault.
The first case was recorded the day the Obiectum was dug up. The man person guy was put in an insane asylum. Day later he died because his brain fried up, went poof. After that the cases rose by the hundreds every day. This little space-city can't handle this amount of insane nutcases. This HUGE amount of dead people.
After a while, they just started launching them into space. Their little ragdoll bodies froze and dissipated after being shot out. Not from an airlock, but from a gun, THE gun. The pride of the TerraCorps fleet. Meant to defend from any and all invaders. No, the airlocks were too precious they said. The closer the dead are the more disease there is they said. WELL THEY WERE WRONG!
The Obiectum it does something. It messes with the fragile mind of people. Not mine, but theirs. Haha, it was fun watching it happen. First they lose their hearing. Then, then they go insane. The Obiectum does something to their fragile mind. It was fu- I am going insane aren't I? (Long silence) I.. I.. I am going insane... It wasn't supposed to happen to me!NO! NO IT WASN'T! IT'S NOT FAIR! IT CAN'T HAPPEN TO ME!
I! AM! GOD!
(The recorder is dropped and all that can be heard is screaming and then silence).
After that incident on Planet Cracker 13, TerraCorps released a press statement saying it was only a parasite causing the deaths. It wasn't a parasite. It was the Obiectum.
The object that was dug up from the ground of Hawking-7. It released a very high frequency signal when it perceives danger. Yes, it can perceive danger. It is an organic being built by the first people that lived there before it was exhumed.
It causes hearing loss, insanity, then while they're wriggling around hearing the voices in their head, their brain overheats and literally melts out of their head. Photos have been released showing the stages. The most graphic, the final stage, is when all they give is a blank stare.
Their body temperature drops to an unhealthy level of ninety-five degrees and their brain goes in meltdown. The liquefied brain runs out of the ears. There have been some rumors that someone escaped. With part of the Obiectum, believing it was divine. And headed to Earth. But that, that can't real right?
