I was playing Pokémon Emerald one day and went to the Battle Frontier. I noticed all the weird Pokémon in the game, and asked my friend what they were - I wasn't very experienced with Pokémon at the time - he said they were the first generation Pokémon and I could only get them from a first generation game. I looked on the internet to see if any first generation Pokémon games came out the same time as Emerald. Sure enough right there was a game called Pokémon FireRed.

Never playing any Pokémon game besides Emerald I decided to go to GameStop to see if they had the game there. They didn't and I got really bummed out. One day me and my mom went to a flea market on Saturday because we liked buying and looking at things on Saturday. I looked around the kid section and noticed a small game cartridge. It was Pokémon FireRed. I realized that the game looked in good shape. I brought up with the small angels my mom got and asked how much for the game. The man said he would give it to me for free with my mom's angels. I got home and immediately looked online to see what the game cartridge picture was supposed to look like. Sure enough the label was exactly the same.

I put it in my DS and saw the game screen pop-up. There was no music playing and I thought that was how it was supposed to go since Emerald had little music in the entrance. I saw an already saved file with a player named EXE. I thought that was a weird name and I saw he had 386 Pokémon. I was amazed and wanted to see, but I didn't want to spoil the game so I just selected new game. The opening scene went on till I got to name my character. I named my character Topaz since I did it in Emerald. My rivals name however I couldn't pick since the game automatically chose the name "Sad", and his face looked like he had a frown on his face and I could make out streaks of tears.

When I got warped to my bed I went down stairs and talked to my mom. I went through the game till I got to the Pokémon selection scene. I picked Bulbasaur because I wanted to trade a Grass type. My rival chose the opposite and battled. My Bulbasaur had only one new move and it was called "beg for mercy." When I used the move it said Bulbasaur begged for mercy. My rival used scratch and one-hit me. The moment I lost the game teleported me to a city.

I walked around and noticed a bunch of pens. I read the descriptions and there were supposed to be Pokémon in them. In all of the pens there were no Pokémon. I walked left of town and noticed there was one man looking left into the side of a mountain. I talked to him and he said, "I did it, I didn't want to, the look in their eyes." I immediately got a weird feeling in my gut. I walked right of the city and left. There was nobody there for a few seconds, but then a scene appeared with mutilated people and Pokémon. It began panning left and I saw the same man gutting a Pikachu.

I immediately turned the game off. I was so scared. A week passed and I looked at the game. I decided to play it again only for a little bit. When the title screen came on there was instead of a Charizard a message saying, "Why did you leave me?" I continued my game and I was instead of the road I saw the gruesome scene I was in a small building. The man walked in and said, "You left me, but you know too much." He walked towards me and a scene of mutilated Pokémon was showing.

There were a bunch of them gutted, and some were just laying there motionless with nothing wrong with them, while others had open wounds with blood pouring out of them. The screen then went black for about thirty seconds with a weird buzzing noise coming out of the game. I wanted to turn it off. I was about to when a scene of the player with blood covering him and the man smiling. Text went up and said, "You left me, but I found you, now we are together forever." The screen went black again and the buzzing sound came on only this time it was really loud. I didn't want to see any more for my sake. I turned off my DS and ripped the game out. When it was trash day I threw it in the garbage can and watched as the garbage truck took it away. I was afraid of my DS and didn't play it for a week. Even though it was gone forever I will never forget the images burned into my head of the mutilated Pokémon and the tortured character.
