Petville Death
So everyone knows the popular app on Facebook, Petville. For those you that don't know, it's pretty much a virtual pet game but you dress your pet up and this happy bs. Well my friend actually got me into playing it. I had raised my pets stats up as much as I could and left it. It wasn't like I could do much more to it.
I left it alone for about two months. After the suicide video leaked out on Facebook, Mark Zuckerburg decided to to change some things on it. He felt that it was his fault the girl had died, and decided to take the grief out on his creation. I didn't notice too many changes except the fact that the icons for apps had a dreary look to them. I decided to check on my pet considering that I was told that all the stats had been reset do to the recent changes. I clicked on it, it took forever to load which wasn't normal.
It took me to my pets house, but instead of the bright, sunny, fairy ridden living room, it looked like a graveyard. Under every one of my neighbors, the icon for the pet wasn't the normal one. Their eyes were black with what looked like a flame for pupils. Their skin was blue, for what looked like to symbolize death. My pet finally loaded, but she was bone and rotting flesh. The little fur that she had left was covered in blood and there were various organs laying about the room.
I went to the kitchen, which looked like a bomb had hit it because the roof was missing and there were small flames here and there.
The part that I didn't understand, was her bowl was half full. The was a note attached to the bowl, like when its empty. I clicked on it, which I regretted soon after.
Written in blood and what looked like vomit, it read
"I refuse to eat. People have given up on me and I have given up on myself."
I almost cried at this. I went on a forum to see if anyone else had noticed this. There were none so I posted one. Two minutes after I posted this, the site went crazy, I tried to refresh, but when I did, the browser shut down. I managed to open it up with a different browser. I went to go sign into the forum, but it said "Username not recognized." I found the thread though, after signing in as a guest. There were two replies to it. one was some kid that agreed with me and thought that it was sickening, the other, from a nameless admin.

Studying some binary text in college, I realized it was saying something about a message and a video. I ran the code though a binary to text generator and it read "The last part was her final message. PM me for the video."
Curious, I tried to send a message to the nameless admin. But when I clicked the link to his profile, it said page does not exist. I clicked back and an IM screen popped up. The site must have made that a new feature. The box for the chat was translucent but the text was a hyperlink. I scrolled my mouse over it, I was hesitant to watch, but before I could scroll off of it, the video automatically started playing.
It was in a dark room, then you could see a girl of abut 15 or 16. She wrote a note and showed it on the screen and it read "People have given up on me and I have given up on myself." I watched and started crying as I watched such a young girl take her own life. When the video was over, I noticed that it was playing on my other tab of Petville, instead of a video site like YouTube or Dailymotion.
I exit out of the browser thinking maybe this was a joke. I opened my now responsive browser (Google Chrome) and proceeded to Facebook. I clicked on the Petville icon and it immediately took me to my house. It looked normal now, but I couldn't find my pet. I went to her bedroom, which was now completely dark and had only two candles on the window sill. There was a lump on the bed so I clicked it. It brought up a window saying that my pet, had taken her own life. This greatly disturbed me and I proceeded to try to contact Mark and ask why he made this happen. It took him awhile, but he finally responded. He said that he had changed the settings back hours before (which would explain why the house was back to normal.) So I tried Petville one more time, hoping this time it was fixed. Everyone else's icons were normal, except for mine that still showed my pet was dead. I clicked on the bedroom, nervous to what I would see. She was lying down on the bed, just as they had found the girl. There was a note beside her, it said, "Maybe I'll be remembered in death, more than I was in life."
